The Great Humility And Fear Of God Railroad

As I write, Breitbart.com is highlighting comments made from Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez on the topic of immigration reform. The Democrat Congressman puts it bluntly; without immigration reform George W. Bush will be the last Republican President, and Tom Donohue, the CEO of the Chamber of Commerce "half-joked" that the GOP "should not bother to run a candidate in 2016 if they do not pass amnesty legislation.
To make statements like this one must be very confident that America will reach 2016, at least in its present form as a republic that holds elections. One must also have an extreme case of tunnel vision in that they see no possible major events in America that might change the perception that Americans have on any issues. In other words one must be like the majority of Americans today.
Both political parties are scrambling....no scurrying....no there's got to be a better word....stampeding, stampeding over our Constitution to get votes through amnesty. They think that there is a mother load of votes here and they want their fair share.
These are the leaders of our government! These are our public servants, but let me take the original thought a little further. As America is today we have no hope. Corruption is everywhere in our government. Our educational system is a tool of the Progressive Left in this country, our military might is shrinking while our enemies are getting stronger and bolder, and the Bill Of Rights has a bullseye on it. Our churches have lots of 'ministries' but very little preaching of the blood of Christ and the cross of Calvary, save for Easter of course where it is expected. All of this and more and the big issue in our Congress is amnesty legislation!
The Latino is a religious person, very much like the average American, maybe even moreso, struggling for a sense of meaningfulness in life.....like the average American, and like the average American, struggling against the temptations that our narcissistic, idol-craving society fills our lives with at just about every level of our lives. We, as a people, have little wisdom and no hedge of protection around us that God has always provided.
No election, no candidate, no political party, no government can change nor even make a dent in this. We need a mighty movement of God over our hearts and minds and we need a reformation in our churches. If God should deem it fitting to humble us and to bring us to repentance, to renew our minds and reform our churches, Latinos would be effected as everyone else. It wouldn't matter what party led the House of Representatives and the Senate or who occupied the Oval Office for many of them would be humbled also. The election of 2016 is not the problem, getting to 2016 is... and the Great Humility and Fear of God Railroad is the only line even capable of getting us there....and that only should God will it and have mercy upon us!
The following Proclamation is taken from from abrahamlincolnonline.org, was written by our Senate in 1863, and placed on the desk of President Lincoln to sign. Please make the effort to read it in its entirety. You may also want to Google 'National Day of Prayer 2014' to see how much our prayers have changed and how far we have fallen as a people and as a government in intellect, in wisdom and in reverence for God:

Proclamation Appointing a National Fast Day

Washington, D.C.
March 30, 1863 Senator James Harlan of Iowa, whose daughter later married President Lincoln's son Robert, introduced this Resolution in the Senate on March 2, 1863. The Resolution asked President Lincoln to proclaim a national day of prayer and fasting. The Resolution was adopted on March 3, and signed by Lincoln on March 30, one month before the fast day was observed.

By the President of the United States of America. A Proclamation. Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the Supreme Authority and just Government of Almighty God, in all the affairs of men and of nations, has, by a resolution, requested the President to designate and set apart a day for National prayer and humiliation. And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord. And, insomuch as we know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now desolates the land, may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole People? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us! It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness. Now, therefore, in compliance with the request, and fully concurring in the views of the Senate, I do, by this my proclamation, designate and set apart Thursday, the 30th. day of April, 1863, as a day of national humiliation, fasting and prayer. And I do hereby request all the People to abstain, on that day, from their ordinary secular pursuits, and to unite, at their several places of public worship and their respective homes, in keeping the day holy to the Lord, and devoted to the humble discharge of the religious duties proper to that solemn occasion. All this being done, in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the Divine teachings, that the united cry of the Nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings, no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering Country, to its former happy condition of unity and peace. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed. Done at the City of Washington, this thirtieth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty seventh. By the President: Abraham Lincoln
William H. Seward, Secretary of State.

Mom's Night Out

Roger Ebert began his review of the newly released film Mom's Night Out as "Depressingly regressive and borderline dangerous..." Well it is dangerous, I laughed so hard I thought my jaw had locked. I choked and spit some popcorn into the row in front of us......downright dangerous!
But that's not what the film critic Roger Ebert had in mind. He's worried that mothers who see this might be content to stay at home. It could turn into the domino theory....the next thing you know young girls wouldn't want to pull the trigger on an M-60 for a living or pound their dainty fist on the boardroom table anymore. I don't remember the last time film critics were so concerned about the societal repercussions of films they reviewed, and the concern here was that the film might keep mothers from going...."out on the town."
Gruesome serial murders are OK but stay at home moms are not. Hideous, haunting demonic creatures are fine but a mom mentioning God isn't. A cadaver is informative but a Bible study is regressive, lip-locking Liposuction kissing is normal but two pairs of lips meeting without any tongue inspection of upper and lower molars is odd.....well....you get the point.
Roger Ebert gave Mom's Night Out one and a half stars out of four but the 1977 film Looking For Mr. Goodbar about a woman who continually went...out on the town... garnered three stars and the description was "very much worth seeing." Silence Of The Lambs was worth four stars.....well....bon appetit.
The real issue here is not that the film, Mom's Night Out, is getting panned in some places, the issue is part and parcel of the real regressive and dangerous problem we are experiencing in America today, that being... constant coverups, biased news reporting, lying, academic intimidation, skewered statistical data and the all-encompassing, phobia evoking and fear invoking hatred of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, authority of the written Word of God and all the accompanying guilt that paralyzes with fear at the mere mention of that mythical, destructive, inhibiting bogeyman called sin.

Sola Cremora.....or Cream Alone!

Should the Lord tarry in His return, which is unlikely, and should He give this nation more time to ply its wares while feigning some semblance to historic Christianity, which I also believe to be unlikely, an historian might someday decide to take on a research project of America in its last days. Should part of that research include the American pulpit there would be scant evidence of anything controversial, threatening or even intellectually engrossing. What one would find is advice central, albeit Biblical advice, on how to live joyous and fulfilled lives during an economic downturn in an intolerant age; at least it would be found in those churches that because of the lack of the Gospel, the cross of Calvary, the terrible existence of hell and salvation only in Jesus Christ, are pampered by the media and academia and essentially preach a salvation of works towards whatever deity one feels comfortable with.
Politics dominates our 'serious' time and that amounts to two incompetent, incompetent at best, political parties whose only true talent is more indicative of a theater arts degree than history, political science, philosophy or even economics. We are a people who seem to live merely by referring to statistics, survey results, polls and daytime television guest experts than anything remotely resembling analysis, common sense or involving historical documents.
Doctrine is divisive! Plus it is hard work, and doesn't let one freely express their innermost thoughts and feelings. It's much more desirable to paint a word picture of God, one that fits in nicely with the eclectic decor of our minds, than to actually learn boorish catechism texts which we didn't have any input on anyway. The following post is from December of 2012:

         Sola Cremora......or Cream Alone!
I give way too much money to McDonald's for coffee. A conservative estimate, being that I'm a Conservative, might be ten large coffees a week or over forty-two dollars a month. The folks working at McDonald's at 6 A.M. know me. If I don't show up for a week they might ask where I have been and if I show up at nine or ten they might comment on it. They're very good and I never have to worry about my order. Last week was one  of those days where my schedule was different and so was the crew working at McDonald's when I showed up. I gave my order of a large coffee with two creams at the drive-thru and a few miles down the road sipped the coffee and there was cream and sugar in it, sugar...blah! I think that I said "blah" after every sip. A few hours later that day I was at the drive-thru again with the same order..."large coffee with two creams...please put them in." And once again I was a couple miles down the road and...blah! I like only cream in my coffee, or cream alone! Anything added to that and it's just not the same.
I bring this up for an analogy. A great problem in the church today is the failure to preach faith...alone.....sola fide...one of the five solas of the Reformation and the Gospel itself. As Scripture reveals to us....Scripture alone or sola Scriptura.... salvation is in Christ alone...solus Christus, by grace alone...sola gracia, through faith alone...sola fide with all glory to God alone...sola Deo gloria. When we add anything to sola fide it is no longer sola fide, it is no longer faith alone, it is no longer efficacious for salvation. My coffee is enjoyable without the addition of sugar. Our salvation is efficacious when it is in Christ alone...by grace alone...through faith alone, as revealed to us in Scripture alone and with all to the glory to God alone!

Allen Bernard West

This post is from earlier this year:

The charge of racism towards those who oppose Barack Obama is right out of the playbooks of communists and Saul Alinsky. The particular charge in these cases doesn't have to be true and does not even have to make sense. What's only important is that a charge has been made. Repeat it often enough and it will be accepted.
In my particular case, about the only thing left that I like about this president is that he is black. There have been too many black schoolchildren that have taken pride in him for me to utterly and totally regret his ascendancy to that office.... too may working class blacks (working class like myself) who had something, albeit only for a short time, to root for, and too many doubts of my own that America could elect a black president.
There are plenty of negatives to go along with this and that may be the understatement of the year. He fulfilled his own prediction from October 30th of 2008 of "We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America." Racial relations have worsened because of him, the economic progress of the black community had been set back decades and strong, able and wise black leaders have been isolated and attacked simply because they oppose him. Barack Obama has stomped all over our Constitution, eviscerated our heritage, weakened our national defense, strengthened our enemies, is destroying our health system, and has put feeble leaders in so many important positions that on a daily basis..... no news is good news.
Do you want a good book to read, a book that you can settle down with and read in a few days, not only enjoy it but become informed and educated in the process? Have you been looking for a good read to give to your teenage son or daughter to put wind in their sails as future producers in this country and as good citizens...well-educated in our nation's history and prepared to withstand the politically correct nonsense that they might get in their public schools? Well, I have the book for you!
Allen West writes as if he is right there talking to you. One minute he'll be telling you of his childhood in Atlanta and the next explaining why his neighborhood changed over the years and who was responsible. He writes about his army service as if addressing someone who has been there also. He writes about Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin as if he were a history teacher and John Locke and Thomas Hobbes as if he were a philosophy professor, and all of it is easy to comprehend and digest and needed in our national debate.
If you are not familiar with this man, Allen Bernard West, was born into a black, conservative, church going family in Atlanta in 1961. His father, who he pridefully writes about throughout the book, told him never to use his race as a crutch. West was too busy and too determined to dwell on his race. He advanced as a soldier, later as a husband and most recently as a patriot. He served one term as a Congressman in Florida and the Left was on him like flies on a stallion. He wasn't stopped in that campaign, he wasn't tackled, he just ran out of time, and he's about the last person the Democrats want in the national spotlight.
His book is Guardian Of The Republic, an American Ronin's Journey to Faith, Family and Freedom. (you will have to read the book to see what 'American Ronin" means) Possibly the most important section of the book is his description of how the black community of today assumed it's present political stance. We meet Booker T. Washington and W. E. B. Du Bois here. We see their fight and who was the honorable one.
I've mentioned Allen West before and put him right up there just behind Jim DeMint who if Conservatives were wise, they would not only mention his name as a presidential candidate but would push for it and be determined not to take 'no' for an answer from Conservative leaders nor from Jim DeMint himself! Allen West has convinced me over the years that he also has what it takes, that he has a lot of James Madison in him, and a lot of Ronald Reagan, and a lot of Booker T. Washington!
