Impeachment

It seems like two or three times a year I come across a book that I can't put down. Paul Kengor's Dupes was one of those books and Mark Levin's Liberty And Tyranny another to mention just two. Well, I came across the latest a few days ago. I somehow missed it when it came out in 2011. Congressman James E. Rogan was one of the House Managers in Bill Clinton's impeachment. He kept a daily journal during those proceedings for the purpose of getting it right if called upon to recount those days. Joseph Farah and WorldNetDaily (WND Books) called and James Rogan's testimony on this will be invaluable if impeachment proceedings are brought against this current president. The book is Catching our Flag, Behind The Scenes of a Presidential Impeachment.
First of all, the book is extremely easy to read. The journal entries are in bold print and the author's commentary takes the reader right into the many formal and informal meetings of the House's decision to impeach and the Senate's decision to abort. Dozens of characters that we mostly know from press clippings, such as Henry Hyde, come alive, and plenty of those names are still in the Congress. There are personal stories everywhere. Sonny Bono shows up. He wasn't a key player in this drama but he was a good friend of the author. I'll give you one anecdote. Both the author and Sonny Bono came from rough backgrounds and wound up in the United States House of Representatives. One day as they were in that chamber, Sonny looked around at where, as he described, Lincoln, Webster, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford served and commented to Jim Rogan, "Here you are-a guy who used to bartend on the Sunset Strip. Here I am-a guy who used to drive a meat truck on the Sunset Strip. Don't you ever look around this chamber and wonder how.... we ever got here?" Rogan responded "Sonny, I sit here all the time, look around this chamber and wonder how....you ever got here. I know how I got here....I went to law school." So, is this just a good book to read... a walk down memory lane if you're old enough to remember those days? No, it's more like cardiopulmonary resuscitation directions as Uncle Sam lies in the Capitol Rotunda clutching his heart. Folks, please read this book!
President William Jefferson Clinton should have been convicted in impeachment and Hillary Clinton should never have been given a free pass. Read in this book of the charges that should have been brought to the impeachment trial. Read of a United States Senate that will make you want to vomit your last meal. Read about the few real American heroes that were in our Congress and read of the ones that let all of us down. This book should be read in political science classes and law schools. And don't even think about impeaching Barack Obama without studying what happened with Bill Clinton for David Axelrod probably read it and took copious notes. I'll leave you with this quote on the House's failed attempt to have a legitimate trial in the Senate:
"As the record now shows, we 'tried' our case on their terms. The Senate refused to allow us to call a single live witness. There was no direct or cross-examination. This scripted procedure preordained the exoneration of President Clinton. It was no trial, in any meaningful sense of the word. Yet today, every history book and public account records that Clinton won acquittal after a Senate impeachment 'trial'."

Begin the preparations for impeachment.

The United States of America is a constitutional republic in that we elect our representatives and they are to govern according to limits ordained in the Constitution. We are not a democracy although we do democratically elect those representatives. We can express our grievances through a system of courts. We can demonstrate and attempt to win popular opinion over to our side and we can lose our appeals and yet retain our opinion. There are various types of monarchy, one of which is absolute in which the king or queen has absolute power in all decisions. There is no court to overrule them. If there is to be a demonstration it is because the monarch deemed it acceptable. We may retain our opinion only if the monarch permits such and does not demand one to recant, and popular opinion will be of no use unless it leads to deposing of the monarch. We have a President in office who is trying to rule as such a monarch while implementing a totalitarian state and Marxist economy. I often just sit back and watch to see how Republicans in our Congress respond to what is happening in our nation, for much of Barack Obama's, and the Progressive's, and the Communist's agenda is being revealed each and every day. I wonder if Latinos ever entertain the thought that if we lose this fight they will win citizenship into a Cuba or a Venezuela? Congratulations! I wonder at times if liberals are beginning to question themselves. Was it worth it? Are they not even a little bit concerned to see America literally torn apart? They may be able to cheer victories in various areas of legislation but have sold out their heritage in order to do this. They can still abort their pre-born children but must watch as our Constitution is also aborted. They will be able to cheer democracy rule only as long as they are in the majority. They can ignore the assaults on our Constitution but will find themselves helpless when their own property is taken. What is needed right now is the beginnings of impeachment proceedings! By that I mean that whether sanctioned or unsanctioned, formal or informal, the evidence against Barack Obama has to be codified. Why has he made decisions on our economy that can only lead to a Marxist...state run economy? Why has he coddled Islamic radicals and pushed Israel's back against the wall? Why does he send advanced military aircraft to Egypt? Why is he reducing our military and military capabilities? Just today it was announced that the Marine Corps is dropping 20,000 from its active duty roster over the next few years? Why have we read a number of times of well-respected 'fighting' generals and admirals being replaced? Why does his Justice Department defend and pursue only his political agenda and ignore the Constitution when it is not part of that agenda? This impeachment cannot be just a 'gun control' or budget issue but one of the ideology behind taking guns from the citizenry and bankrupting our country. It will take a lot of time and require a lot of research but let it begin now and let the American public be informed every step of the way so that if and when it does become official this media would be scorned as it tries to defend what is going on. By that time Obamacare will be seen for what it is as will amnesty on illegal immigration. Let the American public see first hand evidence of how and why Czars and Executive Orders circumvent the Constitution. Let Americans become amply informed on how communism has always operated and see the extraordinary similarities to what has happened the last four years. Let liberals shiver as we first had when we saw what was really going on. Maybe they will do what many of us had done and that is fall on their knees and implore of God to have mercy on us and ask why He has permitted us to come to this point. And maybe they also will be convicted that we ignored Him who had blessed us and sustained us, and who therefore is ignoring us as chaos envelops every area of our government and society.

Immigration
Cinco De Mayo.....first published May 9th, 2009.
In 1862, a large French military force was defeated in the town of Puebla by a smaller Mexican army. It was the beginning of the French defeat in which, although the United States was involved in its own Civil War, it did apply what pressure it could in support of Mexico. Today, the 5th of May is a day of celebration, to one degree or another, across America, more so even than in Mexico. The American of Spanish heritage is an integral part of American society. They are not cousins, they are us.! They are part of the fabric of this nation, productive, a blessing in their joining with us in citizenship and a key to our future. The heritage they bring is as wonderful as any other nation's contributions to our country. Immigration of Latinos needs be expedited for our benefit as well as theirs. Illegal immigration, if not halted, would play no small part in the collapse of our nation. We cannot afford incorporating a mass exodus. The entitlements would cripple us, the precedent of an amnesty would do a great disservice to those who have come to join us legally, it would be a personal and economic assault on Americans in most affected states, it would leave our Constitution in tatters. The only benefit, and that temporarily, would be for those politicians in office who live to pad their positions of prestige, a prestige that is now as admirable as a governor in Vichy France. Amnesty would not be an addition of people who respect, admire, even love America and its heritage, it would be an invasion of people who want the benefits regardless of who it harms. This should be a strong litmus test for any Republican running for office. We have a lot of official holidays in this nation, but if we were to have another, I would opt for a celebration of all those who, patiently but determinately, legally, and not only for their benefit but in hopes of strengthening us, come and join us. Mark Levin's book Liberty And Tyranny is a short read but powerful and profound. Please make the effort to read this, or listen to it on CDs. In his chapter on immigration he quotes from George Washington's Farewell Address in this: Citizens, either by birth or choice, of a common country, that country has the right to concentrate your affections. The name of American, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism, more than any appellation derived from local discriminations. This does not describe an amnesty, but does point most favorably to those who have respected our laws and come to be part of us and help us defend those laws.
