I wrote these words in a post on December 19, 2008.....over nine years ago......"May God have mercy on us! The American public has no idea how far we have fallen." Folks, we were living in Disneyland back then compared to where we are today.....and we still really have no idea how far we have fallen.
A man rode up to us on a white stallion......rallying the troops.....and promising the world. There was more than enough evidence for us to have sent him on his way.....but the glare from his shining suit of armor blinded us. We followed him into battle......the battle was won.....and we in effect crowned him king.
His court is a mess.....and surely he would disband this ''Parliament' if he thought that the had a chance. All the Lords and Nobles around him are squeezing him for deals for their little fiefdoms while the commoners.....us......who he rallied in our civil war.....now aren't worth the time to give a decent question/answer period where we can try to discern if he really believes the ridiculous things that he says......or is he just a professional chess player......rather we are treated to an occasional royal carriage ride (aka rally) where we cheer as he passes. He sends out a little bird a couple of times a day to tweet to us....along with his Lord High Chancellor Rush Limbaugh to stifle any dissent that may be brewing with the peasants.
As for Vanity Fair itself....where we live.....it's as violent and hedonistic as it ever was....even more so. We kicked the Puritans out and brought back the king.....and the great plague and great fire may await us.
Folks, there's a science article out today describing how a faint signal was detected from the beginning of the universe.....when all was cold and dark.....until those first stars were formed...and as the article described it......were "turned on. " One scientist commented...."The only thing we know from this signal is that something very weird is going on." Funny that he should mention that.....for the very first verses from the first book of the Bible would give him his answer if only he would....tolle lege....take up and read....."In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. then God said. 'Let there be light'; And there was light."
Here's the last two verses of the last book of the Bible.....for anyone interested to ponder....."He who testifies to these things says, 'Surely I am coming soon.' Amen, Come, Lord Jesus The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen
