I prefer the original 1951 The Day The Earth Stood Still with Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal over the 2008 Keanu Reeves remake....but the concept is the same....an alien lands (aliens) in full view of a watching world....and everything comes to a halt.
The Drudge Report has up while I type an article from MSN News titled 'This is not the end of the world, according to Christians who study the end of the world.' The authors interviewed the usual suspects for their facts.....charismatic prophesy teachers. One said that the Coronavirus was not part of it because...."the Lord's shown me through 2026, so I know this isn't the end of time."
Generally....according to the authors of the article....Christians don't seem to be too concerned....because Donald Trump is President.....quoting here...."There is such a positive view on Trump and such strong wishes for his reelection that there is deep hope that the virus will die out, a strong economy will return and Trump will defeat the Democratic nominee." Quoting also an author....Tyndale Seminary professor James Beverely who currently writing a book on Trump and Christian prophesy...."It is stunning how optimistic charismatic prophets are since Trump won in 2016"
Reiterating what I have put forth in these posts many times....evangelicalism was aware forty years ago that our rebellion towards God was about to see consequences....but today.....where we are ten times over in our rebellion towards God....God's judgment has been the last thing on our minds....for the prophet Donald Trump.....(winning winning winning....our best days are ahead of us)....turned what was left of our discernment away from God's warnings.
God took Billy Graham home.....and R. C. Sproul home....and David Wilkerson home....three men who were so very different in their theological interpretations.....but united in that it is all of grace....and also united in that God will not be mocked....nor pacified....nor exploited. The world has in effect....stood still as of late....but whereas those films pointed to man himself as an answer to our problems.....God's Word tells us....with His Holy Spirit as screenwriter...."Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other." (Isaiah 45:22)
