VOTED FOR HIM.....CELEBRATED....NEVER AGAIN
Think of a mob scene from a Hollywood movie....the run on George Bailey's Saving & Loan would be a good example....old man Potter wanted to put fear in the people to drive George Bailey out of business...and the people ran like a mob to get their money. I'm going to segue here a little. Rasmussen is a daily approval poll that is thought to be weighted on the GOP side. I follow these polls every day. Last week Trump's approval on one day was 43%.....and it usually fluctuates between that and 47% or 48%....but 44% or 45% would be a good average.....but this morning it came in at 51% approval....which to me is somewhere in fantasyland. What has President Trump done in the past week to see such an improvement other than tell white people in the suburbs not to worry because he will keep low-income people away from their neighborhoods....and float the possibility that he might delay the November election.....which caused one of his supporters in the legal profession to immediately call for a second impeachment....and conviction.....for boldly even bringing such a thing up....and he continued to hinder the medical fight against the coronavirus....which he has done since the beginning? Folks this is a lose-lose situation. The one possibility is that a major poll is essentially fake.....or that it is true....showing that we former conservatives now care only for ourselves....want to keep the poor people in their place....and will go to any measures to get power for our leader....who is surrounding himself with men who may later say....'I was only following orders.'

Wow....those words from the Declaration of Independence still gives one goosebumps....but it was a different age....(albeit not that long ago)....and even a different country....that actually treasured words of honor. To the great misfortune of this new America.....even the church no longer treasures words....(Hugh Latimer's come to mind as he was about to be burned at the stake along with Nicholas Ridley...."We shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out"....or Martin Luther's...."Here I stand, I can do not other, so help me God. Amen," We have conveniently replaced the meaning of words with the perceived power of mantras....(God bless America)....and chants....(USA USA USA)....and incantations....(Your best life now.) I would be very surprised if most every Republican senator in our Congress was not totally fed up with Donald Trump....even sick of him....but they would have to put their reelection on the line to speak out wouldn't they....(not exactly their lives or their fortunes)....and had the signers of the Declaration such qualms about losing their job....there would not have been a United States of America.
Tucker Carlson.....it was good to see Carlson choose John MacArthur as his evangelical expert. I've mentioned John MacArthur many times in these posts....recommending his sermons and his website...gty.org....but I'm not fully on board with his comments on Carlson's show. MacArthur is probably the biggest critic of the contemporary church of the major voices in evangelicalism. I've recommended his books....Christ's Call To Reform The Church and Ashamed Of The Gospel. Whatever the governor of California is doing concerning the opening of churches....it is no where near what will happen in probably the near future....and our lack of patience may actually promote anti-Christian thinking if churches become hotbeds. What is happening is chaotic...there are mistakes....even malevolent decisions....but this in my opinion is not the battlefield for us to choose....not yet anyway. I watched a wonderful service today broadcast from our church. It wasn't necessary to endanger anyone else by going....particularly any elderly who may be there....(I'm only seventy)....at this time where a second phase of the virus may be at hand....it's a week-to-week thing....and I've probably listened to while walking John MacArthur's last six or so sermons on the Internet....and I presume they are live for his congregation. This is not....not yet anyway....a 1st Amendment issue. Highlighting the political issue as John MacArthur did....takes away from what he has normally done....that being highlighting the condition of the churches themselves.

PRESIDENT....FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY"....that was the title of a post from April of 2019....where I called for Republicans in the Congress to inform the President that he is too divisive....and must therefore do what LBJ did....and not seek a second term. Politico is using those words right now.....and Drudge is headlining the article. Four additional years with this troubled man in charge....should the Lord even give us that time....has to be addressed by Republicans in the Congress....and they have twenty-four days to do it in before the convention is scheduled to start. As of today I still hope that President Trump will "pull an LBJ".....as Politico described it....try to be satisfied with having been the President of the United States....and therefore be able to focus on serious issues.....and not on being reelected.....but he is getting worse each and every day. He recalled a third of our military from Germany.....in retribution for their not kowtowing to his $ demands. A "former top military commander in Europe and NATO"....a retired Navy Admiral.....called it....."A gift to Putin." Go figure! Yesterday.....minutes after the worst ever GDP figures were announced.....(as one news source put it)....he brought up the idea of delaying the November election....and today in defending it referenced news stories about voting problems in California and New York....(as if they mean anything in the outcome of this election). It's getting closer every day for him to be forced to resign....and not just drop out of the race. The latter gives us a nominee that would probably be the favorite....the former makes matters even worse. If you agree that one term is the most that this country can deal with.....please contact your Republican Congressperson or Senator....if you have one. Just search for example....'contact Senator Toomey.'
Update on the Convention....only 336 delegates of the more than 2500 that normally would be present will vote for the Republican Party nominee....this in less than four weeks. We don't even know if any press will be allowed into the proceedings.
RUSH LIMBAUGH....for the umpteenth time in that past three and a half years....after President Trump had said something absurd or volatile or egregiously divisive....told his listeners that the President is just trolling....or as he said today....."playing the Left like a Stradivarius." First of all Rush....I'm not the Left....and there are many who feel as I do....and I'm well to the right of you....nowadays....since you abandoned conservatism for Trumpism. Secondly.....you always say that you are the expert on Donald Trump....but you have been duped by him....and will most likely someday find that out. Thirdly....even if this would be three and a half years of trolling and inflaming and instigating....we should consider how God deals with such people....this from the words of Proverbs 6:12-15....

ANOTHER ONE WHO VOTED FOR TRUMP BUT.....seems to have problems with him now is Steven Calabresi who is a cofounder of the conservative Federalist Society....and one who defended President Trump against the Mueller Probe. He penned this in an opinion piece...."Until recently, I had taken as political hyperbole the Democrats' assertion that President Trump is a fascist....but this latest tweet is fascistic and is itself grounds for the president's immediate impeachment again by the House of Representatives and his removal from office by the Senate."

Donald Trump has continually lied and deceived his whole life. His lies are so so often and so natural that it is something to behold....but we wouldn't know this because we made the conscious decision not to examine the man who we had already decided to follow. I have never seen anyone so proficient and so unconcerned....and so at ease with a disregard for truth. John MacArthur has a seven year old sermon out that you might want to listen to. It was titled....When God Abandons A Nation. His conclusion even back then was that God had abandoned America. We in evangelicalism have....through an utter refusal to listen to what we have been indoctrinated to believe as being 'fake news'.....turned to the one who lives on the lie....to supposedly oppose the father of lies.
GERMANY OUT.....RUSSIA IN....."Germany pays Russia billions of dollars a year for Energy, and we are supposed to protect Germany from Russia. What's this all about? Also, Germany is very delinquent in their 2% fee to NATO. We are therefore moving some troops out of Germany." About a third of our troops actually. This is the evangelical's president....troubled in so many ways....and this tweet is troubling in so many ways. Do you think Putin cares more for "billions of dollars" or a collapse of NATO?
PROTECTOR GENERAL WILLIAM BARR told Congressman Swalwell....under oath....that he wasn't familiar with a tweet of the President's concerning Roger Stone....that most of us are familiar with....in fact he said that he doesn't read the President's tweets. You can easily watch this for yourself by searching....'Swalwell questions Barr.'
AN ELECTION WITHOUT TRUMP.....Look at this from a different angle....take everything and everyone else out of the equation....considering only 77 year old Joe Biden....and one would think it utterly impossible....even in this day and age....for voters all across the length and breadth of America....to elect him president of the United States. Add Donald Trump to the equation as his opponent....and all of a sudden that impossibility....becomes a possibility. Has no one in the media even thought about a survey of republicans to see what the feeling would be for President Trump to drop out....as LBJ did for the good of the country....and turn the fight against socialism over to someone else?
I APOLOGIZE....for repeating this so often but new visitors to these posts should know how I came to my conclusions. I knew very little about Donald Trump prior to the 2016 election....he had casinos....and would still have them had they not gone under.....but evangelicals have no problem with this....he had a television reality show for what....fifteen seasons.....of which I had not watched a single minute of....I knew two of his wive's names....and that he owned a lot of other brand toys. I started reading about him only two or three months after he came to office....and I'm over seventy books as of now.....books critiquing him....books for him....books by him....and he is the same person in July of 2020 as he was in the late sixties....obnoxious....destructive....deceitful....trouble wherever he went....thus we need to pressure him to settle for one term.....for even without wars....and possibly world war....and should the King of Kings and Lord of Lords Jesus Christ tarry....which is unlikely considering the prophetic development of the past century....should not all this happen....we would have four more years of complete havoc....probably another impeachment....and even though conservatism has already been replaced by Trumpism....and evangelicalism neutered if not hijacked by charismatic false prophets....parachurch ministries....and megachurch pastors....and talk radio long gone as to any intellectual back-and forth....there would be more extreme risk for profit and the President's personal glory.....which his supporters today who have long since switched to focusing only on the 'transmission' end of political thought....leaving the 'generation' end to others....have in essence abandoned their guard posts.
PLEASE AT LEAST READ BOLTON'S BOOK....It's our move in the game of war and profits. We closed the Chinese consulate.....then they closed theirs. News stories all over the place had 'escalating' in the titles. Recently we had decided to enter into the maritime dispute between China and Vietnam....on Vietnam's side. Taiwan is concerned about the communist country's increasingly aggressive actions. North Korea is making some strange moves...even for them. All this while some Republicans in Congress are pounding their chest...even smiling....as they inform us on how they are turning the screws on China....as if an actual war....let alone a two front war. ....(the Middle East)....could never happen. Folks....this is where leaders need wisdom....and how can we have wisdom when Donald Trump has none....and he rules everything in every department of the Executive Branch.....while pressuring all his spokespeople.....and purging or humiliating the others who do not just blindly and quietly follow. Please consider taking the time to read John Bolton's book to see how this President operates behind the scenes.
THERE WAS A DAY.....when as difficult as it was between cold war countries....the primary goal was to avoid a global war. Those goals have undergone change in the Trump administration....for profits are there just for the picking....all it takes is the willingness to take on some risk....and these risks were first taken when America's economy and riches and wonderful employment statistics were being shouted from every rooftop in Washington.
A QUESTION ABOUT TRUMP'S TAXES....not what you might think. President Trump again today filed different motions to stop his taxes from being released. Yes the question is there about what is on them....and why would he spend so much money on hiding them....but there is a different question that I would ask Trump supporters....does is not bother them at all....not even for a moment....that the President has spent years and millions of dollars in not letting anyone see his tax returns? Are they such unconditional followers that they haven't even wondered about this? A related question would be....is there not anything that could possibly come out on Donald Trump that would threaten their support for him? I have to believe that all these issues are purposely blocked out....for any reasonable person....supporter or not....should conclude by now that there has to be a problem somewhere. Somewhat unrelated.....but it seems that the President will succeed in keeping his tax returns from the public before the election....but what if they come out after the election?
CORONAVIRUS....However this pandemic might play out....and whatever we may eventually learn about it.....Donald Trump has from the beginning shown nothing but disdain for human life and personal misery....in order to keep his campaign economy up. He has had to be pushed into everything that he did....and then brags about doing it....which by the way is the same with many of his decisions over the past 3 1/2 years....for example the Paris Climate Agreement....where it it wasn't a certainty until he actually announced the decision. He has led his talk radio host sycophants into ridiculing even the wearing of masks for crying out loud....since the beginning....and now Fauci is the devil....along with Bolton and Maddis and and many others. Who knows....only God knows....where these figures would be if there was no pushback on President Trump from the beginning. Folks....this is the man who said that invading Venezuela would be...."Cool."
NEBUCHADNEZZAR......"Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?".....who had made the image of gold...."whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits".....demanded that everyone bow down at the sound of the many and various instruments to the image that he had made.....and soon after ordered Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into the furnace for not bowing down. We have witnessed a somewhat similar in principle event in.....Major League Baseball.....where on one team....only one man refused to bow down.....or kneel....to the pressure that was upon every player. Whatever is ahead as to a one-world government and the Antichrist....this is a sneak preview of sorts. The politics of what happening in this today is not as important as the concept of pressure.....that can come out of nowhere....to in effect worship an image.
THE GOLDEN AGE OF HOLLYWOOD IS FINALLY OVER.... You might say that it began in 1915 with D. W. Griffith's The Birth Of A Nation....and died yesterday with the death of Olivia de Haviland at 104 years old...whose most famous film was Gone With The Wind.....both films of which are highly controversial today to say the least. All of them....all the great stars of that age.....the Bogarts and the Hepburns....The Kirk Douglases and the Olivia de Havilands....are now dead....and those of us who had lived somewhat vicariously through them can only ponder if there is any significance. Olivia de Haviland's relationship with her sister may be something that we all should deeply contemplate....because it highlights how weak we all can be. Olivia's sister....Joan Fontaine....had to change her stage name because....according to some books.....her mother so favored the older Olivia. Both won Best Actress Oscars. Fontaine died only five years ago at the age of 96....and supposedly once said of Olivia...."I married first, won the Oscar before Olivia did, and if I die first, she'll undoubtedly be livid because I beat her to it." Folks....these sisters were two of our idols....these were the people who we wanted to be like....those of us my age anyway....and they were family....and they fought each other! Surely the Bible speaks to this with Cain and Abel.....and with Jacob and Esau. England's Henry VIII's family history is something even Hollywood could not invent....and we see problems today with the royals....(I have to look up their names)....princes William and Harry. I saw this type of rivalry hurt relationships in my own extended family....and promised myself that if differences arose with loved ones....they would be extinguished before the flames caused lasting damage.
