By its very nature it is so difficult as to being nearly impossible to recognize from within.....when actually afflicted by it. Possibly the best example that we might look at would be in someone that we had known.....a friend or maybe a family member. What's good about this example is that just about everyone has personally known someone like this....who has in some way or another.....it might me something like gambling or it might be a personal relationship with another person who is purely destructive....destroyed themselves......slowly but ever so surely.....and no matter what we did or how much we tried to help them.....they could not see what we clearly saw.....and therefore would not heed our warnings. You agree with this right.....for we have all experienced it.....if not been the said person caught in the quagmire who others were trying to help?
My point in this is America. We are in the midst.....possibly in the final stages.....of a downward spiral....but being within in it and not on the outside....we are like that friend or family member who just ignores the many warnings.....some tearful warnings by those who love us.....for we are just unable to see things clearly enough.
For one thing the violence has overtaken us. Can you even believe these two very recent stories.....a man disciplines a small child by putting the child outside the car next to a busy highway....and the child is struck by a vehicle and killed.....or another where a father decapitated two of his children? Folks this.....although getting worse.....has been day-in and day-out for decades. It seems as if everything destructive has overtaken us. Look at our electoral process.....surely we can agree on that?
I could go on and on....and you could then add to it......so just where is this "one glorious nation under God" that evangelicals cheer about.....as we dance to Y.M.C.A.? What is there in the future....as it looks to be just ahead....that we could even imagine being described as...."winning winning winning?"
Folks.....all of this is judgment from God upon us. Biden....Trump....society.....the whole mess. It has been increasing in intensity.....and we have been warned step-by-step the whole time.The Apostle James tells us that "You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions." Make America Great Again is asking wrongly!
I'm reminded of the demoniac that ran down the hill to Jesus....and not to seek help. I'm reminded of prophets weeping over Jerusalem. I'm reminded of Peter writing that he would continue to....remind his readers....as long as he was still around. We need God to intervene....not to make us....great again....but so that we could see just how sick that we are. We are having many of our enjoyments taken away one by one. If we just try to wait this out and get them back....the darkness will just increase. Now is the time.....when we have the time....to consider just how bad our situation is.....and the more effort that we put in on political answers....from those as blind and infirmed as we ourselves are....the less likely we will be able to see our problems as if somewhat from the outside....outside of the fog itself.
