If You Think That These Verses Cannot Happen In The Near Future....Please Think Again

                What I am going to say in this post will mention Israel and the terror attack on the last day of the celebration of Sukkot....or as evangelicals know it more as the Feast of Booths or Tabernacles....but that terror is not the essence of what I will try to say. I'll leave that for the last paragraph.
                In the week or weeks after terrorists entered Israel and slaughtered kibbutz families....dozens of babies....and hundreds of rave festival goers....few would have foreseen that in only a few more weeks much of the world....and even America....would by default take the side of the terrorist who slaughtered families and children and young adults....but that is what happened.
                The average American woman....at least from those whom I have known during my lifetime....and particularly since my wife and I are book people....these women read continuously and on many subjects....and one of those subjects over any period of time would have been Germany's Kristallnacht....where in one night the hatred of the Jew exploded in the cities and marketplaces. We read about that....and about the concentration camps and gas chambers....not as if it wasn't true....but as if those kinds of truths are for other ages and other peoples....and if asked....we would never have stood by and let those things happen....and they most certainly would never happen again! 
                The beheaded babies....and young people gunned down while running away in the desert....and the families holding each other as they were murdered....the outrage over these things only had a short shelf life. The memory of 9/11 stayed with us for a few years....but the emotion transferred to the political sphere....and they day by day....bit by bit....hammered away....and all of a sudden we became the aggressor.
                "Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." That is Paul writing in 2 Timothy 3:12....ESV. John writing here....Jesus speaking....in chapter 15....verse 18 of his gospel...."If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you"....ESV again. And how about this....the words of Jesus in Matthew 10:21...."Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death." And finally this from the Olivet Discourse....chapter 24 verses 9 and 10 of Matthew...."Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for My (Jesus) name's sake. And then many will fall away, and betray one another and hate one another."
                  Here is my point in this post....if you think that these descriptions above are so horrendous that they must be in the distant future....please think again. The flames of Rome gave Nero the excuse that he needed....and the arson burning of the Reichstag in February of 1933 gave Hitler the excuse that he needed....and the assassination of a Nazi official....Ernst vom Rath.....on a Paris street....by a Jewish teenager....was all that was needed to begin the terrors on the....night of broken glass.
