Moderation In Everything.....Except.....Seeking Glory For One To Whom All Glory Belongs!

"Only one life....'twill soon be past....Only what's done for Christ will last." C.T. Studd

It is by anyone's estimation a beautiful day in Western Pennsylvania....73 degrees....as a break from a brutal winter....with storms coming in later in the day. My wife is on the patio on a lounge chair....and I am fighting the temptation to do the same thing.
Those 5,000 plus men left the Shepherd's Conference last night....one last sleepover probably and then the trip home....and I was praying for travel mercies for them....and that this would not turn out like a typical Christian conference....where the vacation is over and it's time to get back to the grind of scheduling and sermon preparation....but that there would be a new unction....clinging to the mind like the demon of laziness....that hopefully last night was cast out into the outer darkness!
This is part of our fight....a gut-wrenching struggle to tell ourselves....and believe....and act on it....that the world....as the Beast from the Sea....even as I type and you read this....is not resting....that the world can have these poppy fields....sleep-inducing days....but I will struggle with this post....trying to draw something out of nothing....putting one ragged 76 year old step after another.
All I have is this....a sermon of Charles Spurgeon....from 1886....read by who-knows-who....on a topic related to the above. How much time do you have left before you stand before the Lord of Glory? How much time do I have left....a year....a month....a day....an hour? How much time before this life of delusion and greed and pride and ignorance that America....and the church....are drowning in.....how much time until....well God's Word puts it this way...."Now when these things begin to take place....straighten up and raise your heads....because your redemption is drawing near." (Luke 21:28 ESV)
