We do not know what a day brings....but I just reserved seats on that opening weekend. Seats were filling up fast if you want to see the film the first weekend. The Great Awakening was an extraordinary series of revivals in the 1740s. I don't have the exact quote at hand but Benjamin Franklin commented somewhere that it appeared that he could not walk down a street in Philadelphia without hearing the singing of hymns and Psalms coming from the houses. Now that is an awakening folks! My hope is that the gospel of the need for being born again will ring out....and not so much the American Revolution....for that awakening was long over by 1776....and near the of George Washington's life he worried that the Christian Faith would even survive."
The above paragraph in quotations is from a week ago. My wife and I viewed "A Great Awakening" this afternoon.....to a full house....even the four rows right in front of the screen. It was actually better than I had hoped! This is a Christian film....from the great Sight & Sound people....with what was to be a limited weekend engeagement....but has at least been extended in our theater to Thursday. Any concerns that I had about politics were not in the film.
