There's A Storm Brewing

Is it J Zee or Jayzee or something else? Well, it's Jay-Z! I know that because I got tired of hearing his name on conservative talk radio and looked it up. As for Bruno Mars....until this morning I couldn't tell you what he was. I'm listening to Rush as I type. I tuned in three times earlier today but lasted about 5 minutes each time. Right now he's talking about a Mark Ruffalo.....I assume that's the correct spelling. I'm not going to look it up. Sounds like a NFL linebacker to me.....but I bet that's not right. A few posts ago I mentioned a former pastor of mine whose preaching left the listener in awe at the end of a sermon. I have to email this man's church secretary and have her pass it on to him because he wouldn't know how to boot up a computer.
I'll go from one news web site to another....and from one radio talk show to another.....and it's all the Grammys. That's all they're talking about.....describing this or that of the other thing that happened.....and then Drudge is headlining his news site right now with.....Grammys Crash and Burn.....Lowest Rated In history. There's something wrong with this picture.
How many Christians watched the Grammys last night.....on what used to be the Lord's Day.....and would probably say something like this....."Those Grammys are terrible....I think they've gotten worse every year for the last twenty years!" And then if they happen to hear a Christian preacher or teacher warn of God's judgments upon America....and the church.....they'll say....."Me...what did I do that God is upset about?"
We have become so saturated by this culture that we see nothing beyond the glare of neon lights....with no forms delineated in more detail than shadows in a fog. Brothers and sisters in Christ, we're all boats on this polluted sea. We....most of us....certainly me....may not be pretty.....but we are afloat....our hull dented but unbreached.....our cargo of redemption firmly secured. Thar's a storm brewing....a big nor'easter.....batten down the hatches now or bilge water will slow you down from reaching that safe harbor.....that Christ has dredged out for us.
My point here in this post being if (one) you do not pant for God as a deer pants for water, and (two) you don't find yourself often staring into His Word in amazement at words you just read, and (three) if there is not an extreme feeling of imminence on the return in power and glory of Jesus Christ....and as this world reels into chaos....a genuine desire for Him to come soon.....then there may be something blocking the panorama of the unfolding drama in God's Word?
