I've written quite a number of times for almost the entire near ten years of these posts on the dangers of social media. Conservative talk radio is now ranting on it but whereas I pointed to the mounting evidence on the deleterious effects of it on the mind....which affected the direction of the country....talk radio....having been awakened by big tech bias against conservatives....is focused on the structure....not the concept. Now there is talk about a conservative social media....just for us....same mind-numbing social media....only we direct the bias this time....sort of like what conservative talk radio has become since Donald Trump took charge. We are also talking about regulating it....which is more big government in our life....instead of praying that God would give us the discernment to break away from the Facebook and Twitter captivity of the American mind.
At one time conservative talk radio was focused against something....the Clinton/Obama....Progressive/Marxist....tyranny of the mind....while it defended the constitution....freedoms....and our liberties. That has changed.....as it is now primarily focused for something....defending Donald Trump at all costs to honest critical analysis.
Whereas there was once a free flow of ideas among conservatives on how to oppose the enemies of America....there is no free flow of ideas today. Freedom of thought and opinion on who best can defend America is gone. There is no need for further debate on the merits and demerits of President Trump....we have our king....long live the king!
The conservative movement was not as strong as we thought it was. Yes....it coalesced to defeat Hillary Clinton....but then in victory some special interest groups just thought only of themselves. We once defended the high ground of ethics....but Donald Trump dragged us off of that high ground.
We now at times find ourselves defending criminals....and tar-and feathering some honorable men. We need a major conservative talk show host to break the spell....and I don't know who it could possibly be. Rush Limbaugh may never be able to get out of the hole that he has dug for himself. Mark Levin already flip-flopped once. He could do it again but it would be tough. Sean Hannity has always left a tiny door open....but that hole is so small that it would be tough to fit through....and Breitbart radio would have to drastically change its format....as it thrives on Trump administration guests....and their own pro-Trump Breitbart contirubuters.
Here is where the evangelicals come in. Their intent is good but they lost perspective on the definition of good. They talked themselves into believing that God was going to use Donald Trump. It turned out that they were right....God was indeed going to use Donald Trump....but as continued judgment....and not blessing....unless favor is given to us as our dalliance with Donald Trump becomes a teachable moment....on how easily we can depart from our core Christian beliefs.....but even here we should know in advance that that would make us an anathema to both the Progressives.....and the New Republican Party of Donald Trump.
