More Than Flirting With Obstruction Of Justice......President Trump's latest tweet and photo (his enemies behind bars) are beyond the pale even for him. There is something very unnatural and disturbing about the way that he is handling this probe. He is more than flirting with obstruction of justice. Even talking about pardoning Paul Manafort may be obstruction of Justice. 'A defendant agrees to a plea deal....then he talks to the man who the plea deal is focused around....then the defendant doesn't do what he said he would do in plea deal....then the man who the plea deal is focused around....the President....says that a pardon is not off the table'....Donald Trump may have been innocent of any collusion with Russia....we'll find out....but he is making things much worse for himself almost every single day....and talk radio is egging him on.
Donald Trump Hasn't A Clue About What Communism Is.......President Trump tweeted that the Mueller probe was "our Joe McCarthy era" By inference here....Joe McCarthy was what the Progressive dupes of Communism told us that he was....and taught our youth that he was....no problem here with Communism folks. Donald Trump may never have read an entire book straight through in his life. He hasn't a clue as to what Communism is....and yet his "gut" is telling him what to do with North Korea and China.....and Putin. Ivanka probably put that thought about McCarthyism in his mind.
Rush Limbaugh Takes The Wrong Road......Rush Limbaugh's method in keeping the "base" in the dark as to who Donald Trump really is is to talk for three hours on only topics that can successfully counter President Trump's enemies. I tune in to the show often....it's effective....and it's sad. Simply by ignoring anything and everything in the news that points to legitimate concerns on President Trump basically serves to control that base....which may now be his base.....but it's a changing base....and a changing agenda....from that which put Donald Trump into the White House. This is the same method of obfuscation with which we criticized the Clinton and Obama mainstream media. This is not honest. In fact it is deception....yet this what we have become.....we are all swamp creatures now.
Why Did Putin Favor Donald Trump.......There are two books that should be read by conservatives....(at least one of them should be referenced).....to understand why the Mueller probe is legitimate. The first is Trump/Russia by Seth Hettena....and the second is House Of Trump/House Of Putin by Craig Unger. Like it or not.....Donald Trump's dealings in Russia for a long time....combined with his less than ethically stellar professional history....make it legitimate to at least appoint a special counsel. This in no way excuses the Strzok/Page cabal or their methods....that in itself may need another special counsel. My question in the very beginning of this mess was in why would Vladimir Putin want Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton....but it appears that he was not concerned as much in who would be a stronger enemy than who would be a stronger ally.
One Term Only Please......NBC News quoted a California Republican Party official in...."The Grand Old Party is dead" and that the "division, hostility, vindictiveness and lies" from Donald Trump's White House was "the straw that broke the camel's back for many, many, many Republican voters." It will never happen short of a Nixonian dilemma but Donald Trump needs to announce that he will not seek a second term. Everything that the man does is focused on his own glory and reelection. He went to the top of the celebrity and real estate entrepreneur world....and then to the top of the whole world. If he thinks that there is something beyond that then he is mistaken. We will need a President fully engaged in the perfect storm headed our way....not a President weighing each decision on how it will effect an upcoming election or a legacy....but even his bowing out would not stop the judgment that God is bringing upon us for a half century now of rejecting everything good that He had given us....and replacing it with deadly secularism....and a spirit of warfare on truth....countered by MAGA arrogance....and tempered only by a modern latte-fueled evangelicalism.
Military Spending Has To Be Scrutinized As Does All Funding......Conservatives are generally always for improving the capabilities of our military. So we celebrated....in a way....the enormous amounts of funding that has been allotted to our military over the past year. I say...in a way...for two reasons....the first of which most of us are aware of....the national debt is eventually going to bring us down.....funding for the military of late greases that financial collapse. The second reason is not as obvious. Fifty-five years ago President Kennedy became a supreme threat to the military industrial complex because of his foreign policy plans...a few years before that President Eisenhower took the bold and unusual step of warning the American public about the ambitions of that same military industrial complex. As much as we conservatives want the military more than adequately funded...we cannot just applaud the enormous funding....without being vigilant as to potential abuses. Complicating this is the fact that drugs that come across our border kill our citizens....and radical elements that want to kill our citizens....are pouring over the same southwest border. We need a physical wall right now! President Trump won his election in 2016 on just that demand. If the wall money has to come from the military funding....then that's what he will have to do.
When They Lie It Is Bad....When We Lie It Is Good.......I'm listening to a fill-in radio talk show host this morning. A fill-in host is going to do two things....say wonderful things about the regular host....and then toe the line on the overall message heard on that program on a daily basis....or else he won't be invited back. This host made one comment that just had me shaking my head. Relating to the Mueller probe he hypothesized that Mueller was centering on the lying of everyone around President Trump in an attempt to....through guilt by association....prove that President Trump is also lying. I shook my head because of this....in anyone and everyone that I have come across in a half century of following politics and reading biographies....I have encountered no one who equals Donald Trump in lying so naturally and easily. The untruths just seem to flow off of his lips like soapy bubbles from a child's bubble pipe without the slightest concern for any veracity about what is being said. As I type....a caller is commenting with disgust on how Elizabeth Warren....lies so much! They all lie to one degree or another....and guess what....we lie also. How else can you explain just this one example of many....candidate Trump lambasted President Obama for golfing so much with important issues on his desk....yet President Trump golfs much much more than President Obama did....and we think that is OK. Talk show hosts lambaste Mueller's pleas deals....but if plea deals come up in a Clinton investigation they would be great wouldn't they? We have got to step away from President Trump if at least for this one issue alone....for it is a serious psychological problem....that extends far beyond the Mueller probe to each and every promise that Donald Trump made in the campaign and will continue to make.
President Trump often threatens a nation over trade issues....then eventually announce a new trade deal....and of course takes credit for prowess as a great and firm negotiator. Every time that this happens I try to research the details of the new trade deal but find that those things will be told to us later. I then wonder how the nation in question can so easily give in....and seem so happy. The same conundrum occurs with legislation and even executive orders....we don't know the whole story in the beginning. The Hill reported today that transgender issues were included in the Mexico/Canada/USA agreement....at the insistence of Canada. Apparently we OK'd certain issues that were the opposite of that which Justice Department had been fighting for.
Rush Limbaugh had a very interesting caller yesterday named Geno. If you listened to the show then you surely know all about it. Limbaugh has apparently been saying that conservatives should rebrand themselves as 'problem solvers.' Gene went ballistic on Rush. He thinks that we should be in the face of Progressives...."the Bolsheviks"....(he's correct on that identification)....every time that they spew their destructive ignorance that is destroying our country. He thinks that Rush is backing down from this. Rush says that he's not backing down. You can read the entire conversation right now on rushlimbaugh.com. Geno is correct in his primary assessment of Rush....he is abandoning conservatism....backing off of it bit by bit might be more accurate....but this is where Geno gets confused....for Rush is moving full square into Trumpism...which is something markedly different. Both Geno and Rush are now Trumpsters....so Geno himself is moving away from conservative principles.
