Preface to last night's post: I've mentioned this quite a number of times....and will continue to mention it occasionally as long as the prayer enters my mind....and the Lord permits it. I'll read something about Donald Trump....or see a new Rasmussen poll....or I'll be driving somewhere listening to Rush Limbaugh....and utter...."Lord wake us up to this man (Donald Trump)....we've been taken in by his false prophesies of prosperity and safety.....even though you warned us that false prophets would come.....and your servants warned us of this and everything else that has occurred.....increasingly in not only the severity but what should be the obviousness of it....for the past forty years you have warned us.....and yet we find ourselves where we are.....using your name as if it is a talisman...."God bless America".....while we are in full rebellion to you....while trusting in not only a fallible man.....for every man is at best fallible....but a grotesquely fallible and uniquely vacant man who leads us as sheep. Open our eyes Lord....that we would look only to you!
Trump And Golf
It was Tuesday.....and I was where I'm supposed to be on Tuesdays.....at Barnes & Noble looking over this weeks newly released books. Although I'm there every week I rarely walk through any aisle other than 'current events' and 'Christian life.' Oh on occasion there will be a 'business' or 'history' book that I had been awaiting.....but usually I'm heading to the one area of the bookstore where these two sections are almost always back-to-back. I can be in-and-out if there's nothing new but sometimes I linger....looking over everything a second time....and sometimes it works out that I find something interesting
So this past Tuesday....two days ago....there didn't seem to be anything new....so I headed briskly to the door....having already given the once over to the octagon table of newer releases.....(the first table you hit when entering Barnes & Noble)....but in passing it on the way out something caught my eye....how did I miss this title....Commander In Cheat....How Golf Explains Trump by Rick Reilly...a nationally known sports writer I take it.....I'm not really up on those things.
Had I spotted this book on the way in....I would have probably looked over the front and back covers.....put it back.....and headed to 'current events's and 'Christian life'.....but since there wasn't anything new that day....I gave it a longer look than I normally would have with a title like Commander In Cheat....for it didn't sound like a serious book. Had the title been Trump And Golf I might have given it immediate consideration.....but I was too deep into this now two-year....thirty-some book research....on who this man Donald Trump was who took us by storm....captured our generals.....and then enslaved us with his lies.
So I purchased the book and expected a quick read.....with not a lot of serious reading matter....but I was wrong. Oh it was in the style that I expected.....with constant humorous anecdotes....but it was to me serious as a dead mouse in with the onions.....in your refrigerator. I wasn't sure that I could get through it....it was so disturbing.
If you are a golfer.....which I'm not....(although I was always a scratch golfer when I played....after every shot I'd scratch my head)....you probably would not be able to put the book down....as it is a golfer's book.
