He's been in the news almost every day lately.....and there have been almost daily updates as his winning streak continues.....James Holzhauer....the latest super-champion on Jeopardy. Well he was in the news tonight for a somewhat different reason other than continuing to win....which he did by the way.
One of the other contestants chose....'Social Studies for 2000." The question that Alex Trebek then read to the three contestants was....'He's a senator from Nebraska....and the author of...."Them....Why We Hate Each Other....And How To Heal."
No one knew the answer....Senator Ben Sasse.....not even with the Senator's picture on the board. So a few people have had a laugh over it including Senator Sasse himself who added a little humor of his own with a tweet...."I'll take 'uncomfortable awkward silences' for a thousand dollars, Alex."
I'm not in a humorous mood on this one. I know a bit about Ben Sasse.....he's one of the best....I read that book....and posted on him a couple of times.....but nowadays.....'one of the best'....apparently just ain't good enough. Senator Sasse is usually mentioned as one of the top prospects to challenge President Trump in the primaries.....but he's not doing it....as of now anyway.
My opinion here once again.....(but this with only a half a century to rely on of fiddling around in this politics stuff).....is that Senator Sasse would easily beat Donald Trump in the primaries.....(for there's an army of 'Ironsides' out here just waiting for someone to take charge)...if and only if Senator Sasse meets Trump head on on the debate stage....and calls him out on who he really is.....and what he really did.....and what he really didn't do....but if he plays it McCain/Romney style....he would be drummed out of the primaries by Trump....and fast.
So know that first Senator.....along with this.....it's the worst job in the world.....and at the worst time in the history of our country. Well do you want the job or don't you? Hey....back in 2012 Jim DeMint was where you are now....and he said no. I had 'DeMint For President' on my hardhat....but to be honest.....if any of these contenders are not up for this very difficult task then it's probably better that they don't run. So don't run Senator Sasse.....but if you are not running because you think 2024 might be a better time.....then it's really good that you not running.....because you wouldn't have a clue as to how bad things are right now....and we need someone who at least has a clue!
