Preface: Conservatives sure aren't going to listen to this warning....but to evangelicals....flee talk radio....and Fox primetime. I had read most of Mark Levin's books over the years....and had subscribed for a while to his show....and posted a few times on his great book....Liberty And Tyranny....but these people have changed. I remember when Levin was challenging some of the egregiously inane things that the new President Trump was doing.....and then one day everything flipped.....and he began saying "the president" with a strange reverence. Rush was gone from the beginning....as I remember when Trump endorsed Luther Strange....and for ten days Rush wouldn't even mention it....not a word.....it was odd....until finally giving a lame excuse. Trump's influence here is not normal....for any clear thinking republican or conservative would have long ago said something like....'thanks....but that's enough....it's time for you to go." So to evangelicals.....these folks are leading you down the wrong path! This is not related to the Christian faith....in fact it is antithetical to it.....and pastors should have been warning us! Jonah Goldberg's 2008 New York Times #1 best-seller Liberal Fascism, the Secret History of the American Left, from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning was one of the most important books of the new millennium. I occasionally look up his latest opinion pieces....for he is one of the few conservatives who has not moved on to this new....whatever this is....that we are today. Apparently he along with another Fox News contributor Stephen Hayes last year started an Internet site titled....The Dispatch....which I had not heard of until today when news reports are out that he and his partner Hayes have resigned from Fox over the incendiary antics of fellow Fox personality Tucker Carlson. My own title for occasional posts....DISPATCHES....was chosen after reading Helen Rappaport's equally important 2016....Caught In The Revolution....Witnesses to the Fall of Imperial Russia.
This movement led by Carlson and most of talk radio and various podcast hosts is what I have been urging evangelicals to flee! I have used the word 'incite' quite a number of times in describing it. What is most important here is that this is not a Christian movement....in other words it is not a movement that puts forth Christian principles....but it is rather....rabid reactionary men and women in the media who use the word 'God' all the time....hitting on issues that may be true....but denying the essence of what Christianity should be. One radio hosts starts every show with a scripture reading.....another begins by giving that day's date...emphasizing the phrase...."in the year of our Lord"....and yet another....a prolific female author....shows no more concept of what the gospel is....than a cheerleader knows offensive and defensive schemes....of the team for which she cheers.Update Tuesday morning: There is a report out today on..."a significant level of an internal dispute over conspiracy theories espoused by Tucker Carlson." According to the information that has come out....both Bret Baier and Chris Wallace have also...."went as far as raising their objections to the network's leaders."
