There have been almost daily news stories across America over the past week....of multiple murders within a home or in some other venue....this while what happened at the University of Idaho continues to dominate the violence saturated American psyche. Have you seen the photo of Marjorie Taylor Greene taking a selfie with Kevin McCarthy immediately following the final vote on Speaker of the House? I read an article tonight by a man....an author....an expert on world finance....an influencer in conservative circles....a man who I still have a couple of his books on my shelves.....and in that article you would think that Vladimir Putin was our ally being attacked by the Ukraine. How did we come to this point? Twelve hours from now....Lord willing....men will take to their pulpits all across America....with perfect selfie smiling faces! May these pastors show the effects of some strain over the condition of the nation and the church....or may their smile solely be a reflection of the glories in all the evidence of the soon return.....in power and glory....of our Lord and Savior! Note: The latest since I posted this…a 6 year old took a gun to class and shot a teacher….and a 12 year old girl stabbed her 9 year old brother to death. The following is from a much older post..."In amongst an entire chapter of information concerning the tribulation period...(Matthew 24)....Jesus gave us this particular revelation of the Second Coming in verse 37 of that 24th chapter of Matthew, "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood , they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark." If you read the Genesis account in chapter six you will find that what Jesus was referring to wasn't quite as simple as just getting married but rather that men "....took wives for themselves of all whom they chose." In the next verse we see God's response in "And the Lord said, 'My Spirit shall not strive with man forever...'." A few verses later we read "for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth." And once again a few verses later "....the earth is filled with violence."
This Storm Cannot Be Outrun
The news is almost unbearable. I'm referring to the news everywhere....on a daily basis....but more specifically this evening the wanton violence on our police officers in Kentucky. God help us. God have mercy upon us. When Billy Graham and other faithful preachers were giving lamentations like this.....decades ago....we were not nearly as violent as we are today. Idols....every bit as destructive and demonic as anything Canaan or Phoenicia could come up with....litter our lives. Celebrities parade before us with their idolatrous wares....their platinum lives....and ivory teeth....with a gold cross along their low-cut neckline or open shirt....hawking their latest book telling us how much Jesus means to them....and sports heroes give all the glory to God....for putting a basketball through a hoop or some such nonsense....possibly even on the Lord's Day....with the Christians showing more passion than they did hours earlier in their worship service.
The churches pride themselves for keeping their doors open during a pandemic....unaware that Satan also wants those doors open....for he is author of the gospel in most of the pulpits today. He wants this pablum to continue to be served up. Malachi gave us these words given him...."Oh that there were one among you who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire on my altar in vain!"
I would ask you to....for only a few moments....put all of the legislative stuff out of your mind.....all the elections and nominations....and all of the anti-abortion and anti-same-sex marriage. This so that you can more clearly see this society that we live in just as a fish lives in water....and if you do.....if you just glance at one current danger after another....from world war to natural disasters to AI to famines and plagues and false prophets and a new world order....in a world gone mad....you might see that not only can you not turn around where we are headed...you cannot even stop it.
This storm is not going to die down. We are going through it. The "Captain of the LORD's host"....is the same...."Captain of our salvation!" Here is your....'trust in God'....not before the storm that you do not even think is coming....but during the storm....the winds of which are already shredding flags and pennants. The Psalmist says to those who know Him...."and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me"....but to preachers who play with His words as a clever politician...."What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant on your lips?" (Psalm 50: 15, 16)
