Folks....I have warned in these posts of over fourteen years on many things....one of which has been the extreme dangers of the technology in this digital age. Within an hour of your reading this I will be praying for you....'Lord open their eyes as to the nearness of Thy coming!'....this a real blessing in the limited amount of visits I get....but if someone posts a video on a dog doing something funny....it may get a million hits. If we witness a brawl of some sort or anything that highlights stupidity or man's inhumanity towards man....our cell phone cameras are recording it....to be posted somehow...in a vain attempt to validate our lives. I post often to college students....for they....you....will witness the return of our mighty King of Kings....and all of the catastrophes that precede it....before our Lord takes us up with Him. Would you rather not know? These are not prophecies....more of words of what might be labelled a futurist....but words derived from God's Word and His prophets....warnings given for just this purpose....that we might not be taken by surprise.
It was November 7, 2010....and I was at a conference not related to this topic. I had just read a Pulitzer Prize nominated book on the dangers of technology on the human mind.....Nicholas Carr's.....The Shallows: What The Internet Is Doing To our Brains. You can read the whole post on this if you go back to 2010 in the links to the left. I'll only give a few snippets of it here....."[In] Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. 'Dave, my mind is going...I can feel it. I can feel it' were the computers last words as the astronaut disconnected circuits. Carr follows with 'I can feel it too. Over the last few years I've had an uncomfortable sense, that someone, or something, has been tinkering with my brain, remapping the neural circuitry, reprogramming the memory'."
I quoted Carr here in...." 'The Net's cacophony of stimuli short circuits both conscious and unconscious thought, preventing our minds from thinking either deeply or creatively. Our brains turn into simple signal-processing units, quickly shepherding into unconsciousness and then back again....If our brains are computers, then intelligence becomes indistinguishable from machine intelligence.' Carr quotes David Brooks of the New York Times in that he once thought that the magic of the information age was that it allowed us to know more but came to realize that the magic of the information age is that it allows us to know less."
I wrote this in the same post....this in 2010 folks!...."A little bit of personal commentary here in that this is in no small way related to our voting patterns today. Our knowledge of national and international affairs comes from snippets of information garnered from television shows where hosts who speak in soundbites devoid of any deep meditation on any of the issues seem totally ignorant of accurate opposing views. And this is all that we want, for the pace of the Internet allows no contemplation."
I posted quite a bit on the dangers of Facebook and AI and other related technologies.....this from October of 2017...."Author Dan Brown....[writes]....'Humanity no longer needs God but may with the help of artificial intelligence develop a new form of collective consciousness that fulfills the role of religion....Our need for that exterior god, that sits up there and judges....will diminish and eventually disappear'." I concluded this post with...."As dangerous as artificial intelligence is....it is only one....only one area where we are sending mankind into an ultimate slavery while in the process potentially killing off the dead weight and defenseless. All this....to ask this one rhetorical question......to make this one point.....knowing what is ahead.....and how evil a society (and the world) can be when God lifts His hand off of it.....which is what is happening.....how can we say and desire anything but......Maranatha....Lord Jesus Come!"
Finally....the following is a short post from July of 2014....
America is shipwrecked, taking on water for decades, adrift and sure to sink if the director of the universe and of all that exists does not intervene, but Americans view this unfolding disaster with detachment! I see it every day in people's faces...."This can't possibly be as serious as it appears! Surely the cycle will return to one of prosperity and....normalcy!"
The further one's mind is from God on a daily basis the less one will feel imminent judgment. The Bible was once an American's most valuable possession. Today it is either an artifact, a talisman for prosperity, simply an aid to innocuous bible studies and Sunday School lessons, or a rather large and bulky ticket one must have in their possession to enter heaven...should heaven really exist.
In reality it is the Omnipotent God's Word to fallen man, the greatest treasure on earth, which brings the greatest joy, draws forth the most ardent love, and applies a devastating guilt, followed by a torrent of mercy that elicits praises for mercies underserved....all given because of faith....faith in the One who took our sins to a tree on Calvary. If my words seem overly pious or even syrupy....might I suggest that there may be an underlying cause for your heistance to shout praises yourself; or if the Bible does not literally captivate you as God's Word to you....overwhelm and gratify beyond your wildest expectations....then you might never have truly discerned the words therein.
