One Well-Known Phrase Sums It Up

 Preface: There are numerous ways to critique today's evangelical mind. There was a revival of sorts in the 1990s as far as examining evangelicalism. This happened in ways such as I described in a recent post when the best Christian minds rallied together to write....The Cambridge Declaration....and it happened in the formation of.....The Alliance Of Confessing Evangelicals....and it happened in Christian books.....primarily 1994's.....The Scandal of the Evangelical Mind.....by historian Mark Noll. In that book which is now a classic....Noll wrote...."The scandal of the evangelical mind seems to be that no mind arises from evangelicalism." It is much worse today as evidenced by the rise of Donald Trump. There are also different ways to go about analyzing what is wrong with us. One direction would be theologically oriented....another might be as we relate to the culture around us. There is a phrase that we are all familiar with....and I'll use it here....because it gets to the heart of the matter....'heart'….here used in a biblical interpretation. That phrase is...It is not about us! It is not about family or liberty or the culture! It is about the glory that is due Jesus Christ....every day and in every thing....and how we declare it in our lives and our beliefs and in our entertainments and in our future hopes....it is all about Jesus Christ....not us....not His blessing us....but us blessing Him....as we give Him glory in everything!
