It's been described as rare....or very special as one news source called it....the hybrid solar eclipse that will occur....starting tomorrow evening....here in Western Pennsylvania. We won't see anything for the path it is taking will skirt the western end of Australia and then cross over the sea off the northern part of Australia....but you can easily view it with a simple Google search.
It is rare or special because in being an annular solar eclipse....the moon is too far away to totally cover the sun....so a 'ring of fire' will appear. It is called a hybrid because it will then move into a total eclipse. So it will be both an annular and a total eclipse.

Update: I watched a livestream of the eclipse from Exmouth, Western Australia. Hundreds of people were gathered on the beach. The ring of fire kept inching around the silhouette of the moon. The blackout lasted a minute or so before a slice of the sun began to appear again.
