In R. C. Sproul's last sermon....preached only a couple of weeks before he died....his voice was raspy....but the evangelistic message in it was as strong as I have every heard him preach. You can easily Google....R. C. Sproul's Last Sermon....and listen to it. John MacArthur's last sermon....and he also sounded very weak....was titled....A Glimpse Of Heaven....and you can easily listen to that also. Billly Graham desperately wanted to give one last message.....and he was able to do so from the armchair in his North Carolina home. The last words in David Wilkerson's blog in April of 2011 were...."Hold fast to your faith. Stand fast in His Word. There is no other hope in the world." Martyn Lloyd-Jones last written words....penciled in because he could hardly speak....were...."DO NOT PRAY FOR HEALING. DO NOT HOLD ME BACK FROM GLORY." I encourage you to Google and listen to the last interview with Tim Keller before he died....and a very recent interview with Ben Sasse as the prognosis for his illness is for a very near resolution....but in this post....with the Lord's Day tomorrow....where the unction of last anythings will most likely be absent....in a church age that wants to dwell only on the positive....I'm adding a reading of John Bunyan's last sermon....preached in August of 1688. You see he was not only a great Christian author....but a great preacher....so much so that the great scholar....John Owens....when standing before the second.....King Charles....of England....and asked by the king why he would go to hear an uneducated handyman/preacher....responded thusly...."I would willingly exchange my learning for the tinker's power of touching men's hearts." (or words very much to that effect)
