Franklin Graham....spoke yesterday to CPAC....which was just another poor decision....and in his talk he gave the same excuse for Trump that has been given by evangelicals for ten years now...."He's not perfect."
How can one say that about Trump when he is and has been the whole time....a false prophet....(that's an enemy of our Savior folks)....telling evangelicals the exact opposite that God's Word tells them? There is no 'golden age' coming! No one that I have ever even read about in history....lies as easily and more consistently than Donald Trump. What does God's Word say about liars...and the "father of lies?" Trump divides everyone and everything....families and congregations and nations within themselves and ally against ally!
He destroys....either purposely....or followers are destroyed simply by flying too close to his flame. He builds and uses fear and rage in his followers! He leads evangelicals away from loving others....or forgiving others....or having mercy on others. He promotes pride....and envy in evangelicals. He gives false witness against good people. He ignored Covid for a month....because the then upcoming election was more important. He sat by for hours on January 6....as people were hurt and died...and as his advisors pleaded with him.
He will cancel someone's pension....or Secret Service protection....or health insurance....in a moment....if it can get back at a political enemy. He is a champion for AI that has biblical end-times destruction coded all through it! He is a champion also of Crypto currencies....amassing billions in the process....while others take foolish chances.
Jesus said..."Take heed that no one deceives you"...."many false prophets will rise up and deceive many." Jude warned against those that 'mouthed great swelling words....flattering to gain advantage.' Paul warned Timothy that men would come who...'loved themselves....and loved money....boasters....unloving...unforgiving....slanderers....without self-control.' It was Trump's resume.
Solomon filled Proverbs with warnings about these type of people...
"A worthless person, a wicked man,
Walks with a perverse mouth;
He winks with his eyes,
He shuffles his feet,
He points with his fingers;
Perversity is in his heart.
He devises evil continually,
He sows discord."
"Do not enter the path of the wicked,
And do not walk in the way of evil.
Avoid it, do not travel on it'
Turn away from it and pass on.
For they do not sleep
unless they have done evil."
The Psalms are filled with warnings...
"No king is saved
by the multitude of an army;
A mighty man is not delivered.
by great strength....
Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him."
Or as was read in our own worship today from the 26 Psalm....in words of David....
"I do not sit with men of falsehood
nor do I consort with hypocrites
I hate the assembly of evildoers,
and I will not sit with the wicked."
The prophets speak of these men. God's Word says to flee from them....and not even to go near them....so how....how can a renewed mind look at all of this....(and this was only a sampling)....and excuse it all with...."He's not perfect?"
What this does is tell us that all of the warnings in God's Word....all the commands about who and what to avoid or even flee from....are not to be taken too seriously....and that defending the Bible may be important....if time and situation permits....but all of that is put on pause....if the American Dream needs defended. Friends....brothers and sisters in Christ....if that were the case then one might as well just throw the Bible away....or at least put it aside....until the next election is over!
