The photo below is of volume 1 of the Golden Book Encyclopedia from 1959. It was sold in grocery stores....up by the check-outs....and as a nine year old I would wait impatiently for the release of every new volume....there were sixteen volumes. It was a simple pleasure for young kids....and very popular....ask anyone about my age....76. I have the whole set today....a gift from our son. I would pour over those pages back then....thrilled by the drawings.....for there weren't even any actual photos. Today is that God-forsaken smart phone that our children were turned over to....along with the iPad or some similar computer. I don't know that I have ever actually seen TikTok....I might have once....but there are similarly designed video schemes out there that I have viewed....and they are absolutely mesmerizing.....one video after another....seemingly forever....and each one captivating for one reason or another.....maybe two people on a boat in the South Seas....with a drone and underwater cameras....or maybe something funny that a dog does....or a person....or worse. Just like with AI....there is no turning back on these things....our goose is cooked....that's probably one of the videos. May God open our eyes to the evil of the days that we live in.
