The common weed wacker...so handy and so easy to use! The lawn
mower....that noisy, smelly, toilsome to use instrument of torture! But
not all is sunshine and roses with the weed wacker, at least the weed
wacker that has a string spool that often jams up and when you attempt
to free it it unravels so fast all you can do is watch the emancipated
nylon sprint for freedom.
I first used the word 'unravelling' six years ago as it pertains to what is happening to America. Since then I've noticed the same descriptive many times in op-ed pieces from newspapers across the nation. It seems as if all that we can do is sit and watch. In a way that is all we can do because God has lifted His protective hand from upon us. We have a Republican candidate and in normal circumstances his leadership would at least stop the Progressive, Communist, Globalist agendas that are now in full force, the Supreme Court would move back towards our Constitution, and our military would be strengthened.
In reality these are in no way, shape or form, normal days. What is indeed normal is that in extraordinarily perilous times such as we live in there will be those who recognize them as such and those who do not. Churchill knew that Hitler would have to be contended with....most of his contemporaries in the Parliament did not. Charles Haddon Spurgeon knew that the Christian church was in a downward spiral, a 'downgrade' as he called it, most others in the English churches did not. England paid a heavy price and Christianity in England collapsed. Some, more than some... many in the Christian church of today know that America has in effect cumulatively and officially rejected Almighty God, that the die has been cast, and that His judgements have begun and will continue increasingly until we can only come to the realization on what had happened.
There is a brewing brouhaha within the ranks of Republicans over the controversy surrounding the speech given by Ted Cruz at the Republican convention, a speech where the Senator from Texas did not 'endorse' Donald Trump. As usual when it concerns Christianity or the Bible, commentators get it either completely wrong or they miss the key elements. I'll try here to explain a few things.
One side...I won't give any labels....sees this as a cut and dried case. Donald Trump won....Ted Cruz had promised to endorse if he lost but he didn't. What is at stake is a President Hillary Clinton! They are chomping at the bit to let this battle between Trump and Clinton commence and do not take lightly to any Ted Cruz supporters who do not meekly just get in line to support Donald Trump.
The other side sees things a little bit differently. Attacks on Ted Cruz and his family during the campaign were beyond the pale, and Donald Trump in his victory has the magnanimity of a cheetah that just ran down its prey. They're not attacking Donald Trump...their just defending Ted Cruz... but this is unacceptable to the Trump people. They want submission....and they want it now!
But there is a third party in this brouhaha and they are who I alluded to when I mentioned Christianity and the Bible....and I am included in that group. Hillary Clinton is every bit as evil in our eyes as with the first group. Donald Trump is the only choice....if you are going to vote. It is the 'if you are going to vote' that distinguishes us from the others. Let me explain.....
Let's start with this.....as conservatives we all believe in freedom of speech and freedom of religious belief, do we not? You may have to remember this as I explain. You see to us....and there are millions of us....in fact the Founding Fathers of our nation held the same belief.....we look first to our God....we know that God established this people and this government from the beginning for His purposes.....We know that having rebelled against Him and having witnessed the increasing collapse of our beloved nation, that we in ourselves cannot save ourselves. We know that in these 'extraordinarily perilous times' that we must look first to God or we will contend with His wrath.Therein is the difference!
Donald Trump shares none of these beliefs. That is his right. We do not demand that he believe as we do....God will address that issue. We do retain the right to look to our God first. That discernment tells us that we as a nation and as a people have failed Him miserably...and we can feel His absence more....more...than we fear a Hillary Clinton administration!
On a practical note....to the first group....the Trump people....if you would just direct your attention to Hillary and not to us....and if Donald Trump can come up with even a modicum of humility and display a smidgen of wisdom to go along with his common sense....you will probably find us at that voting booth.....maybe not with the same Trump button on our shirt....but with the same dedication to our nation...and even more....for we know who birthed our nation....who blessed our hills, our valleys, and our rivers, and who drew our boundaries....before we even came into existence, and we know who sustained us up until the time that we rejected His counsel.
