Well I'm watching the Trump rally from Harrisburg as I type this....and it is sad....in so many ways. The arena is full. I'm familiar with it. I've been to Harrisburg many times. These are everyday Pennsylvanians just as I am. I'd be surprised if there aren't a few of my friends in the arena.
Folks, President Trump has initiated an incredible number of worthy moves that will increase jobs, make our streets safer and bring common sense back into government. Our national defense will improve and this has already started. We have a new Supreme Court justice who is an originalist and that is all we can ask. No one critical of who Donald Trump has shown himself to be denies this. Many had worked feverishly for years to see things like this happen while Donald Trump was firing people on The Apprentice, but he did follow through on these promises and we acknowledge and appreciate it as much as anyone.
Here's the crux of the problem exhibited in just two of many examples....President Trump just now, as I watch, renewed his pledge to repeal and replace Obamacare, as if nothing happened in congress just a little while ago when establishment led Republicans tried to pass a bill that would have neither repealed or replaced Obamacare. President Trump not only put all of his power behind passing this bill, when it became apparent that the Freedom Caucus spotted this scam and refused to vote for it...President Trump threatened the Freedom Caucus! I've brought this up in posts a number of times and the importance of it cannot be overstated. He not only distanced himself from the heart and soul of what happened in American politics over the past year...he threatened it!
In this rally speech that has just now ended, President Trump once again called Communist China President Xi..." a good man....a very good man." The Communist Party in China continues to have a brutal hold on its people, particularly Christians who have to watch very closely what they do and say, and if arrested and brought to trial the 'government' very rarely loses. It was only until recently that President Xi fully supported the murderous government in North Korea. Communist China still mandates abortions and sterilizations. Add to this the recently opened School Of Global Governance in Communist China where it will train what are essentially operatives to assimilate in governments throughout the world.... in other words become professionals in perpetrating their influence and communist ideology......yet this is a good man?
This rally is sad in that the people attending either are not aware of what happened on the Obamacare repeal or they do not care. Did many of them wince when President Xi was called a good man....I think so....but this 'make America great again' mantra has so captured our emotions that our discernment has essentially been neutered.
We, those of us who feel as I do about Donald Trump, have not abandoned or rejected him as our president. We are just no longer lemmings, and in my case never were, who blindly follow and believe every word he says in a speech. I'll go further and say that if it were not for those who have so far criticized our president when it was needed, that he most likely would not have accomplished some of things that he has. Giving President Trump carte blanche to do whatever he wants....without scrutiny or criticism when applicable....is the real problem.
Both of these examples...the Obamacare fiasco and President Trump's comments on the Communist President....and there are more...... should be enough to stop anyone cold in their tracks as to full-fledged unquestioning support for Donald Trump.
After the Harrisburg rally ended I tuned into C-SPAN and watched most of the White House Correspondents Dinner. As it started out it seemed as if the press corps might turn the tables on the president's decision not to attend for it began with a very fair minded video clip on some of the past dinners. Carl Berstein of Watergate fame spoke followed by Bob Woodward who I can actually listen to and consider what he says or writes, but apparently it went downhill from there. Bob Woodward's comments on the importance of having a press that holds to account those in power were very true but there was one very big problem.....by the time that Barack Obama had his eight years in the White House and Hillary came into her own....the press corps did nothing....absolutely nothing....zip...nada...zilch...in holding to account the possibly treasonous Marxist/Communist Obama or grossly corrupt Hillary Clinton. I take that back....they did do something....they refused to investigate, thereby enabling and abetting the foreign policy dealings of these two people! How would Bob Woodward attempt to justify that.

Belshazzar's Feast....May 2016
The White House Correspondents Association has held an annual dinner for almost a century now. It often takes the form of a 'roast' of the current president. Criticism of it of late has been that it has gone Hollywood. I never pay much attention to it but usually a joke or two makes the news. The Drudge Report had it as it's top story along with a video of the event's main performer.....Larry Wilmore....sorry, never heard of him until last night.
I watched the video. At one point a journalist who was the butt of a joke extended his middle finger to the dais. As the camera panned the audience of White House journalists, news executives, celebrities of all sorts, and even Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden....and as I looked into the faces of the crowd as they laughed, at times hysterically, at the jokes about race and foreign policy, possible riots in Cleveland, and Obama's continuous golfing while in office....a thought came to mind of another party held long ago in ancient Babylon and recorded in the 5th chapter of the Book of Daniel.
Known as Belshazzar's Feast, the king, a successor to Nebuchadnezzar, holds a feast for those who served him in official capacities. He demanded that the vessels taken from the Temple in Jerusalem be brought from which to drink! A hand suddenly appeared and wrote these words on the wall.....Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin. The terrified king called for his magicians to come and interpret the words which they could not do. The Queen advised that a Hebrew be called to interpret, Daniel, for he had done so for Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel reminded Belshazzar of how Nebuchadnezzar saw the works of the Most High God and had humbled his heart, and added..."but you...Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this." Daniel then interpreted the words. Belshazzar had been weighed in the balances and found wanting....his kingdom was finished.....to be divided and given to the Medes and Persians.
The handwriting is on the wall for America. We know very well of our Christian past and how at times our leaders had humbled themselves before the Most High God, but today we are as Belshazzar...unrepentant, arrogant, festive and proud.
Note: The following is from a news story that is on Fox News right now (Monday at noon). A woman in Arizona found a note written in Chinese tucked away in the zipper of a purse zipper that she bought that was made in China. This is the translation:
"Inmates in the Yingshan Prison in Guangxi, China are working 14 hours daily with no break/rest at noon, continue working overtime until 12 midnight, and whoever doesn't finish his work will be beaten. Their meals are without oil and salt. Every month, the boss pays the inmate 2000 yuan, any additional dishes will be finished by the police. If the inmates are sick and need medicine, the cost will be deducted from the salary. Prison in China is unlike prison in America, horse cow goat pig dog (literally, means inhumane treatment)."
