I've been on a couple of conservative college campuses recently....and I have a message for these young students who may visit these posts: There are those out there....as you know....who are heavily trying to recruit you....calling you to be patriots....but this is not patriotism....it is politics! Conservative podcasts today can be very problematic. Tucker Carlson and the other evening Fox commentators have only one mission....to keep the conservative in line....and ready for a fight....like a drill sergeant....barking out marching cadences. The King James puts 2 Timothy 2:15 this way...."Study to shew thyself approved unto God..." 'Study' seems to be the comprehensive word for you today....does it not? Do not stay here....as I'm just trying to point you in a direction. John Piper's ministry....desiringgod.org....and R. C. Sproul's ministry....ligonier.org....and Michael Horton's ministry....whitehorseinn.org....would be safe spaces....in the best usage of that term.....for you to go....and I have this for you....sometime during the week....as the classroom pressures are building up....take the time to Google up and listen to a Charles Spurgeon or J. C. Ryle sermon.
My wife an I spent a couple of days in Washington D. C. last week.The primary reason for these trips is to visit my father's grave in Arlington National Cemetery....but we always also play the tourist. According to my wife's pedometer we walked nineteen miles over the two days....while taking the Holocaust Memorial Museum....and the Museum of the Bible....and one of the Smithsonians. Our hotel was just off of Lafayette Square....so at night we would just pick a bench and look at the people looking at the White House. Something was missing this time....and I couldn't put my finger on what it was enough to even mention it to my wife....but I'll try here. I thought of the word....sadness....but that wasn't close enough....and then.....hollow....(not hallow....hollow)....came to my mind. It was a feeling of hollowness that I just couldn't shake.
There are reports of Special Ops men....on their own....and retired Green Beret and Seals....who smuggled themselves back into Afghanistan....and going out on their own....seek out and bring back Afghans that were faithful to the US.....back to the airport....smuggling them once again onto the airport....for their evacuation. This is so amazing that it almost stops my heart for a moment. Can you imagine if we had a president like this? And if you think Trump would have been such a president....(for he surely will tell us that).....you are hopelessly confused about a man who never did anything his entire life that did not favor himself....and if you would have read about him for the past four years....instead of obeying his commands to us not to read the fake news....you would know this also!
ANN COULTER.....I've read most of her books.....and followed her in one way or another for many years....but she is now the poster girl for what is wrong with the conservative movement. It started with her 2016 book....In Trump We Trust....how convicting that title is today! This is obviously a smart woman but her mind began to unravel under Trump.....as she would call him names one day that I cannot even put in a post....but then the next day be critical of something the Democrats were doing.....without explaining to her reading public that this in no way vindicates Trump! The result of this was twofold....Trump's horrors were given a get out of jail free card by Coulter's inadvertent backdoor cover for him....while Ann Coulter's mind was no longer sharp....but contradictory and chaotic. As for today....check out her Tweets just about any time.....and if she cannot find a video of Black people doing something criminal to retweet....then it's an unsuccessful day for her. I don't know how you might view this....but I see one prevailing adjective describing her daily Tweets...and that is racism....a disguised racism....from a person who makes a big deal of her 'Christian' faith....every Easter anyway.
