Preface: The following post is from November of 2018.
I was in a conversation with a Christian friend the other day....in a library.....and that conversation was on Jesus Christ.....how wonderful it is to talk about our Rock and our Fortress.....and I made a comment that went like this...."you could fill up this entire building with gold bullion....this entire building.....and it would not be as valuable as one solitary Bible." It is a remarkable fact of life in America....that the most wonderful possession that one might own....often if not most often if not always.....sits collecting dust on a bookshelf in most of the households in our nation....as we pursue other things that we consider more valuable!
I was reading slowly a few minutes ago.....the Psalms.....taking a few minutes sometimes on individual verses......and the 19th Psalm was what God chose this night to humble me in His presence once again. This is but one verse that jumped out at me...."The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold."
My wife and I attended a wedding this past weekend on Amelia Island, Florida. At one of the meals there was a honeycomb warmed under a lamp.....the honey dripping before our eyes. The words following the verse in that Psalm is...."Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb."
The entire Psalm of fourteen verses is wondrous....majestic....encouraging and emboldening....humbling and yet exalting in the thoughts and meditations of He who has given us so much....as for the words from that particular Psalm.... "Let them rule over me......O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer."
