Preface: On a recent visit to the Smithsonian's Museum Of American History....I had hoped to see the Swamp tent from M.A.S.H....but alas the exhibit was closed. I lived that swamp setting while in the army....and the television show had an inordinate hold on my mind in the 1970s....and I just wanted to stand there and consider mistakes from the past....and be thankful for mercies extended to that poor and pitiful soul by a merciful God.
It's an everyday occurrence on talk radio....on every talk show I would guess....where the host is aghast....at a lie told by the Biden administration. Often the pronunciation of the word 'lie' is stretched out a little for emphasis....and in most cases it probably was a lie....and I just pause for a moment....(it's getting a lot easier as time goes by)....for Donald Trump probably told dozens of lies every single day that he was in office....as these very same talk radio hosts now aghast at the thought of someone actually telling a lie....said absolutely nothing! Well I shouldn't say that they never addressed Trump's lies because...somewhere in late 2017 or early 2018 as I remember it.....after a particularly extraordinary series of outrageous lies told by Trump that they just could not avoid....all three of the top radio hosts did recognize that he lies a lot....their excuse being that....'but that's just the way Trump does things'.....and then the issue was packed away again.
A few hours ago on this Tuesday morning.....Alex Marlow of Breitbart....in an extended conversation with a caller....a call that was going well....for they all go well....Marlow very politely said....."I want you to get to a point that you told the screener you wanted to talk about." Well here is my point....please at least consider it....for I had mentioned this problem a few times in these posts over the years....call screeners direct the conversation.....this on the medium.....conservative talk radio....that in effect is our main source of participation on the issues....and it was deemed absolutely necessary over the four years of Trump....for the purpose of keeping on track whatever the next election was....that Trump's many and egregiously malignant character issues....and daily lies....and the concerns of so many of us....who supposedly were to be part of the conversation....were not given air time....for the narrative had to be carefully coordinated....because the next election had to be won. Trump was thus given a four year pass....probably a get out of jail card....and over time everything that conservatives once stood for....was washed away....and we all....talk show hosts and everyone....became just like Trump....where a lie was perfectly acceptable....as long as it was our lie.....along with anything and everything unethical....if it advanced the cause....and we fully expect God to bless our efforts for this!
Update...Thursday morning....I tuned in to Breitbart in the third hour....and the caller started out saying that Alex Marlow's book is not only a 'should read' but a 'must read'.....and then went on and on about buying copies for his children….and other ideas for spreading the word. How lucky for the host to get a call like this! Marlow asked if he had a favorite part....and the caller said that he was only two or three chapters into the book. I've heard a lot of books recommended on these talk shows over the past four years....but never one that might actually inform the reader as to who Donald Trump really was....or what he really did.
Update....the following Thursday....September 10....no sooner did I tune into Breitbart this morning then a caller came on who had been on the last two shows.....(and folks I'm only averaging about fifteen minutes max listening to Breitbart in the morning)....now this is a national radio show where I would expect a lot of listeners....and one this guy....(who is really pretty poor).....is on three says in a row.....(that I have heard).....also....the host did mention a call from a Florida doctor who said that we should be getting the vaccine for the good of humanity....the radio host took great issue with this....for our decisions should not be made for the good of others.....but rather as a personal choice. Folks.....this is pure....unadulterated Ayn Rand who taught that we are not to make any decisions because they might help others....(altruism)....but only make decisions that help us! We in the church are now Ayn Randian....Rand Paulian....and Trumpian in our hearts....which in effect is anti-Christian in thought. One last thing....as this caller is talking now as I type....Cindy from Florida.....who I have listened to call in for years maybe five years now....and she is telling the audience that the CDC is lying about everything. Folks....I've warned believers about this a few times.....these talk show and Tucker type television....are leading you down the wrong path. I'm not saying boycott them.....but rather do not look at these people as leaders....because they themselves have been taken in....and they are for the most part....ignorant of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.....although they claim all the time to be....'Christian'....and that their utter failure to hold Donald Trump accountable.....on anything....right up to today....proves them to be less than reliable even in what should have been the obvious.
We used to operate from the high ground. I posted this in 2012...."There's a scene from Ted Turner's Gettysburg where Brigadier General John Buford, played by Sam Elliot, scans rocky heights and farm land that would in one day become a battlefield, and he literally spews out these words as he foresees carnage in the Union army if the politicians and generals play their war games as usual...afterwards men in tall hats and gold watch fobs will thump their chests and say 'what a brave charge it was..... I've never seen anything as brutally clear as this.... It's as if I can actually see the blue troops in one long bloody moment....as if it were already done....as if tomorrow already happened and there ain't nothin you can do about it. He went on to lay out a plan to change that, 'We can block that road till the main body gets here, and deprive the enemy of the high ground'!" The high ground at Gettysburg was a defensive military position....the high ground in the past forty years of American politics....was in that we were in the right....and we cared for truth....but all that is lost today.....as Trump took honor away from our arsenal. We....many of us....unsuccessfully tried to block Trump from that road to the high ground until the main body arrived....only it never arrived....thanks to talk radio....and he in time would bulldoze over the high ground to construct a temple to himself....and to house his Praetorian Guard.
Our once vaunted Freedom Caucus has long since been compromised by Trump who only a few days ago brought back his Faith Advisory Board....headed once again by Paula White....in anticipation of a possible 2024 campaign. Trump is still here....(tormenting....which is his hobby)....because of the bullying leverage that he applies to republicans in Congress seeking reelection....and those trying to get in. The Republican leadership has always felt disgust for Trump....with the exception of those like Jim Jordan....but they....in their perceived infinite wisdom....thought that they could use him....and control him....but it turned out to be exactly the opposite....and people like Kevin McCarthy....still think that they can use him....as we are currently trying to purge....in the most insidious usage of the word 'purge'....two of the few champions on this issue that we have in the House of Representatives....Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger....for simply trying to get to the bottom of what happened on January 6 of this year....but that truth.....once again....would not benefit the next election....so it cannot be pursued.
