What A Wonderful Addiction

I have a severe addiction. I cannot even type this without injecting it into me. If I should go three days without this substance....I may not get the shakes....but I languish. But O that you had this addiction also....that Benjamin's Franklin's words would once again ring at the town criers bell....in that....he wrote that it seemed that one could not walk down a street in Philadelphia without hearing psalm singing coming from this house or that house.

I've had this addiction for years now....and I pray that I am never healed of it. That addiction being that I must hear anew every day.....sometimes multiple times a day.....as today....some worthy preacher of the past....or even the present.....preach or teach or just proclaim the glories of our Savior....through the Word of God....or in exhortations drawn from a life of observation....from the Holy Spirit.....words to glorify and magnify Christ....that bless all those who have ears to hear.

Note: The title is so simple....that many might avoid it because of the simplicity....but there is a malady today in that we read the Bible as if reading directions on a medicine bottle....taking in the words.....but not the spirit.....so if you would....just Google.....Charles Spurgeon sermon....how to read the Bible.

Addendum: It's a Friday evening....or maybe it's a Saturday evening.....and there's nothing on the telly....and you wish that you had a movie to watch. Well I'll recommend one that is only an hour and forty minutes.....and if you watch it.....it may change your life! And it's a a docu-movie to boot.....maybe seventy percent acting....and thirty percent with a man walking around showing you the sights. Try it.....you'll like it....put your 'boible' on your lap.....just to put you in the mood....a free YouTube film.....Charles Spurgeon.....The People's Preacher.

Also....I'd like to recommend a second Christian movie to you....and odd one....but compelling if you give it a chance. Made for television in 1998....Jeremiah....took some liberties to develop the story....but the overall message of Jeremiah warning the kings and people of Jerusalem is faithful to God's Word. Oliver Reed who was one of the more established actors of his day....known also for his hellraiser lifestyle as one bio on him puts it....died not long after this film was released. You may remember him as Bill Sykes in the 1968 musical Oliver....or as Proximo in Gladiator in 1999....in which he died during the filming. You can watch this film by Googling....Jeremiah, 1998 film.
