The following is but one key characteristic of who Trump is....just one of many....but it would help to store it in the back of the mind....along with the other things. Trump's constant threatening....whether they are tariffs or bombings or lawsuits or anything else....and all of the name calling and personal attacks....have been a constant during his life. He thrives on it! It's normal to him....but it's not....or it was not normal to us. If I remember correctly....his lawyers had filed over three thousand lawsuits of one sort or another....before he even became president. There are people like this. Meanwhile....there have been effects in evangelicalism....as in the beginning days through most of his first term....it might only have been uncomfortable....but over time....particularly after January 6.....it becomes more of a dark vexation....and then it begins to be a genuine spiritual burden....and then ultimately it can change us....so that we become like him....in bondage to fear and anger....thriving on confrontation.
Trump simultaneously scaled back military drills with South Korea....our ally....while vigorously trying to set up a meeting with Kim Jong Un....our enemy? APEC....Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation....21 nations....has a summit planned for late November. That's a little too late to affect the mid-term elections? So maybe a mid to late October meeting with Kim might be arranged?
Doris Miller was a 24 year old black sailor....a mess attendant second class on the battleship West Virginia....this on that Sunday morning when Pearl Harbor was attacked....when he manned a machine gun that he didn't even have any training for....and officially shot down one enemy plane....with unofficial testimonies that it was more like four or five enemy planes. He was given a medal....and two years later.....in the South Pacific....his ship was torpedoed and sank in 23 minutes.... and he perished with hundreds of others. Six years ago the Navy made plans to name the next aircraft carrier....the USS Doris Miller. Well....the Navy is now reviewing those plans....leaning towards not naming the aircraft carrier after Miller....but another ship....and possibly naming that aircraft carrier after Trump....who....never mind. Oh....they are also talking about nominating Doris Miller for the Congressional Medal of Honor.
