Not Exactly The Prophet Jeremiah....But At Least He Is Willing To Talk About The Nearness Of The Second Coming

                   It's not a spoiler to say that the Christian novel titled.....Vanished....is about the rapture. David Jeremiah is a very well-known pastor/teacher/author whose face is on Christian television a lot and whose voice is all over Christian radio. Sam O'Neal is the co-author.
                   I very rarely read....and even more rarely buy a novel to read. If I am in the mood for a novel I usually go to a classic or maybe a spy novel from fifty or sixty years ago....but I was in Barnes & Noble on Thursday....and it had 50% OFF sticker on it.
                   So I just finished it....and I will pass it on to someone soon.....and I'm sure that they will enjoy it. I'll make an effort here not to give away any real spoilers....other than to say that Dr. Jeremiah takes a similar doctrinal position on the rapture that most evangelicals hold to....so my comments here are not on the book....but on the generally accepted view today.
                   My own view.....and that's all that it can be is a view or an opinion....even an educated opinion....has been solidified for thirty-five years now since reading Marvin Rosenthal's 1990 book The Pre-Wrath Rapture of the Church....which put words to what I was already inclined to believe.
                   We all know this....or we all should know this....that Jesus is coming back for those who are His! We know a lot of specifics....such as it will come in the twinkling of an eye....and it will take the world by surprise....and that we will meet the Lord in the air....along with all those who are redeemed from over the centuries that have gone on before us....and then we all will come back with Him!
                   The problem is not so much the timing of the rapture....but the gospel of Jesus Christ itself....for if one comes to think of salvation no more than as a ticket that was purchased by going forward at a church service....which is where we are at today....then they may have been taken in by a scalper.
                   I do think that it is important that we see that we are well into the Tribulation when the rapture occurs.....important because by that time we will have been given ample opportunity to come to our senses and cast off the trivialities and temptation laden....political goal-setting....and gather together in the midst of what surely will be great persecution and delusion....taking strength from each other!
