What I want to do here is paraphrase German Pastor Martin Niemoller's famous poem....as it relates to this president. We evangelicals just sat back and watched as his purges and show trials and corporate boardroom takeovers and primarying eliminated all of those who had ever stood up to him....because this was going to make our country great again....just like Niemoller thought that das Vaterland was going to be great again....but now the veils are slowly being taken off of our eyes....and we are finally seeing who this man is....and when we begin to speak out against him....which will eventually happen....he will surely come after us....who thought that God had sent him to us!
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist.
First he came for those in Congress
And I did not speak out
Because I was not in Congress
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then he came for those in our intelligence agencies
And I did not speak out
Because I was not in the FBI or the CIA or the Justice Department
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did out speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then he came for the journalists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a journalist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then he came for the disadvantaged and underprivileged
And I did not speak out
Because I was not disadvantaged or underprivileged.
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me.
Then He came for the evangelicals
And there was no one left
To speak out for us.
