I have 100 sermons on cassette from Pentecostal pastor David Wilkerson that kept me going the first ten years of my Christian life.....before the Doctrines of Grace came alive in my mind and heart. I have another 100 or so sermons on both cassette and CD from R. C. Sproul, Michael Horton, John MacArthur and many others. I've been so fortunate to have had pastors over the years who were from out of the past. One such pastor wore a black robe....spoke at times in a monotone.....and stuttered slightly.... but when the sermon was over I could do nothing but sit in the pew and marvel at the glories of Christ presented.
R. C. has recently gone on to be with the Lord who blessed him with such great gifts of teaching and making wonderfully understandable the great doctrines of Christianity. His ministry lives on though in its many resources. You are on the Internet right now. I would be thrilled if you left this page....forever even....if you would but go to this relatively unknown web address.....refnet.fm.....or the more well-known ligonier.org....where right now.....halfway down the page.....you can click and listen to....'R. C. Sproul's Final Sermon: A Great Salvation. The following paragraph is from a 2015 post:
The single most correctable problem that our nation faces is the Sunday sermon... or the failure to preach Christ when we gather together for worship on the Lord's Day! We are overall a malnourished church and the nation reflects our feebleness. Most readers would probably disagree, "Our pastor preaches Jesus Christ every week" they might say, but is it because they have experienced one and only one paradigm for the Sunday sermon from today's evangelicalism and consequently judge everything upon this grid. Should God move upon the shepherds in these pulpits... then the news media, atheists, liberals and all those who cringe at the name of Jesus Christ will have no recourse but to sit and watch as a nation reverts in an awesome display of humility and reverence to the One who blessed it from before its very beginning.
