Talk radio has been the primary defender of President Trump over the past two years on the Russian collusion issue. Their case revolves around deep state saboteurs who colluded amongst themselves through unlawful means to investigate President Trump and those around him....and then set the President up to bring obstruction into the equation. There are numerous books out from this perspective.....and we.....conservatives etc....read them diligently.
It seemed like it took forever but the Mueller Report eventually did come out. Democrats wanted the report to state very clearly that there was collusion....and that there was obstruction of justice....but it became apparent the nearer it came to the release that this would not be the case. Then the report came out. President Trump and talk radio immediately jumped on it as exonerating the President.....no collusion.....no obstruction.
In retrospect....in my opinion on this....Robert Mueller did an extraordinary job. Not only did he basically keep quiet throughout the whole ordeal as talk radio and the mainstream media went wild every day....but he produced a report with just the facts....and those facts made President Trump and those around him look very bad as to collusion....and guilty as to obstruction of Justice. On our part.....we literally savaged Robert Mueller. Compare the lives of Mueller and Donald Trump....and then consider how we attempted to destroy the former....while we canonized the latter.
Donald Trump's business dealings in Russia go back four decades....and involve big money with a variety of types of people. When the Soviet Union fell some became very rich....fast....many becoming oligarchs. Donald Trump's properties became very popular for some of these people to launder ill-gotten monies....and Donald Trump.....whether he knew it or not....or even cared....encouraged and sought out these people.
Donald Trump Jr. bragged early on how money from Russia was readily available to the Trump Organization. It should not be surprising that President Trump became a defender of Vladimir Putin's Russia. Why President Trump needed to meet privately for two hours with Putin on their first official visit remains a mystery. There are also a number of books published from this alternative perspective...but we....conservatives....would never lower ourselves to read them.
So is the Russian issue over as it pertains to President Trump? In the minds of some....yes....in the minds of others....absolutely not. If one only listens to Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats then they only get half the story....and distorted at that. If one only listens to talk radio....and reads the pro-Trump books....they also only get half the story....the other half obfuscated. This much is certain....the need for an investigation was real....but we on our side will likely never admit it.
