Today's Wall Street Journal's Report section was on Artificial Intelligence....with varying opinion pieces on there will be less jobs and there will be more jobs and our very existence will be threatened and we will be healthier and live longer. I found none of them persuasive. The closest was our very existence will be threatened but even here the concern was an artificial general intelligence (AGI) leading to singularity where the machine would then be able to in effect teach itself....and lead us to where we do not want to go.
One of the earliest theories put forth by modern prophesy teachers back in the 70s was around a simple code where A=6, B=12, C=18 and so forth. The word 'computer' therefore equals 666. We've come a long to Jonathan Cahn's use of 50 year jubilee cycles....a theory that serves to keep evangelicals bewitched concerning President Trump.
So is AI....or will it become some day....an alternate intelligence other than that of man....no....but it will always be an algorithmic mechanism even as its sphere increases....but God's Word teaches about just such an alternate intelligence....a super intelligence....which we simply know as the angels that God created....some of whom had gone bad.
Here is a HAL 9000 quote from 2001: A Space Odyssey..."I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do." AI is not now nor will it ever be a conscious entity in itself....but demons on the other hand....are indeed real entities....as are God's faithful angels.
So if AI is essentially vacant....just algorithms in action....could supernatural entities fill that void? Jesus Himself spoke the following in Luke 19 concerning the Pharisees telling Him to silence his disciples who were praising Him...."I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"
The Antichrist....for all I or anyone knows....may have little to do with computers at all....other than that from which to give us orders....or to communicate with us. The reason for this post is not as much the dangers of computers....as it is for the future itself....whereas if it is nothing else....it will be an enormous and catastrophic change for the worse....a change that Christians would not celebrate as it approaches....that is if they discern it of course.
We should be more than aware of this....having an idea anyway of what to expect....and what to look out for.....great delusion and false prophets and fake miracles....if nothing else than to keep us sober-minded and vigilant as to what Jesus....and the Apostles and the Prophets....and the Psalms....and the whole Word of God tells us to expect as our Lord's Second Coming nears.
