For my Lord's Day post I have only this short prayer....."Lord open our eyes to this man Donald Trump.....that we might see through him....let the world follow him if that is what they desire but open the eyes of Thy children. Thou have judged us in this....for we deserved it.....and no one more than myself....but in Thy mercy suspend that judgement for your church....for Thy glory and that of the name of Thy Son Jesus....this only if it be Thy will....which is perfect."
JONATHAN CAHN'S.....The ORACLE
The following post is a month old....posted on the day that Jonathan Cahn's new book The Oracle was released. I'm keeping it at the top of these posts because it is through books like this that Christians over decades have not only gone off into unprofitable areas but more recently were completely blinded to the real Donald Trump. Jonathan Cahn has convinced us that God has given us a champion in Donald Trump....whereas it is more accurate to say that God had given us the Clintons and Barack Obama....and Donald Trump....not as champions first to the Left and then to the Right....but as judgments on America as a whole for what we have become and in what directions our desires and priorities have taken us:
I'll write this as if you are somewhat familiar with messianic rabbi and popular author Jonathan Cahn. His first big book was The Harbinger which was legitimate speculation on prophetic implications to America in the attacks of 9/11. His second book of note....The Paradigm....was way too much speculation that tied Donald Trump and Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton in with Jehu and King Ahab and Queen Jezebel.
Those who accept the Donald Trump/Jehu theory might want to consider what the prophet Hosea (ch 1 vs 4) later declared about Jehu..."...for yet in a little while, and I (God) will punish the house of Jehu for the bloodshed of Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel." The 18th century Calvinist Baptist theologian John Gill described this as God's response to Jehu's desire to increase his power and satiate his tyranny.....for Jehu may have initially obeyed God but he did it for his own glory....and he may have deposed the Baals but continued fully in other forms of idolatry.
Now to Jonathan Cahn's latest book....my wife just returned home from a card party and asked if I bought a book on my trip to Barnes & Noble today. I laughed and showed her Jonathan Cahn's just released The Oracle, The Jubilean Mysteries Unveiled.....freshly highlighted throughout.
The book will surely be another best-seller but Christians should be more than wary when reading it because it moves beyond just connect-the-dots to serious mysticism. It's a novel of sorts constructed around speculation on prophesy fulfillment to fill out what otherwise would be a pamphlet.
There are other problems. Maybe it's because I read the book fast that this jumped out so much to me as I've found that reading through a book in one sitting sometimes can give a much clearer birds-eye view....spotting things that can escape you if read in multiple sittings....and that birds-eye view is this.....everything to Rabbi Cahn seems to be the nation-state of Israel. Jesus is mentioned a few times.....as a few meager paragraphs....with not a lot of meat....are given on the gospel of salvation. It's as if the church only existed for two-thousand years to keep things going until Israel became a state on its own again.
Years ending in a '17' and a '67'....(for example 1917 and 1967)....are central to the unraveling of jubilees in Cahn's book. 1517 was highlighted because that was the year when...."(the land) passed to the Ottoman Empire." Folks...that was also the year when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses onto the castle church door at Wittenberg.....which was the beginning of the Reformation where the glorious gospel was returned to the church....but that didn't even rate a mention! Keep these concerns in mind please if you read The Oracle....and come to your own conclusion.
Near the end of the book President Truman was likened to Cyrus.....which has been speculated upon often over the years....so Rabbi Cahn then is forced to call President Trump.....'a second Cyrus.' The name 'Trump' is compared to the trumpets in the Bible.....and even the name 'Donald' is given importance as it means 'world ruler.' This is heavy stuff right? President Trump may be a....ruler in this world.....but not.....world ruler....not yet anyway....thankfully!
A conversion testimony is given at the very end of the story......"If you mean, did I come to God? The answer is yes." That's it! I know for certain that Christians throughout the church will read this book and be amazed....and that's sad....because reading God's Word by itself....and hearing it preached over many years....is where the real continuing amazement is....and that amazement revolves around the glory and majesty of Jesus Christ....and His blood shed for us on Calvary....and our discipleship....which Paul describes so clearly in Colossians as....."understand(ing) the grace of God in truth"....being "filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding"...."increasing in the knowledge of God"...."strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience, joyously"....that our hearts might be encouraged by the...."assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery (my emphasis), that is, Christ Himself." Christ is the focus of our faith and our hope and the pilgrimage we are on and the world we live in!
Note: The year 1917 is highlighted obviously because of General Allenby's entry into Jerusalem...but another thing happened of note in 1917 as the Bolshevik Revolution occurred....and we know what that led to....and the dangers we still face from it today. So according to the book 2017 is the big year revolving around Donald Trump becoming president....but readers of Jonathan Cahn might want to consider that the year might signify something disastrous.....and that disaster might include Donald J. Trump.
