Sixteen Presidential Elections

My life of seventy years has taken a few different paths in the world of politics....as I saw JFK in person as he ran for president.....and shook Jimmy Carter's hand as he ran.....and volunteered for Ted Kennedy as he ran....and in a minor way for Pat Robertson as he ran. Robert Kennedy was my idol in my late teens....as he ran. Years ago I sat where I am now rather than walk a few blocks to the park to see Barack Obama speak....as he ran. The above photo was my hardhat at one time....as I wanted Jim DeMint to run. I emailed radio talk show hosts during the 2012 primaries warning them that many evangelicals would not vote for a Mormon in the general election....no matter who was running against him. Statistics on that did not prove out my contention. There hasn't been a presidential election that I can remember since 1960 where I wasn't glued to the television as the tabulations came in.
As a relatively new Christian I distinctly remember having ominous feelings on the election in 1992 because Al Gore's wife Tipper had written a best-selling 'Christian' book a few years previous to the election titled....Raising PG Kids in an X-Rated Society. I had a bad feeling that many Christians would be put at ease by this as it related to the Clintons and Al Gore.
In the primaries leading up to the last election evangelicals naturally filed in behind Ted Cruz....as I did. We did not like this man Donald Trump one bit but rallied behind him after all was said and done on the nomination....and we celebrated after he won.
So where are we today? Drudge has an article up right now....Seeking Power in Jesus' Name: Trump sparks rise of 'Patriot Churches'....where it is this new Christian Nationalist Ideology....that has evangelicals clinging to Donald Trump.
A week is a long time but....Lord willing only....I'll be sitting here next Tuesday watching the votes come in once again....for the sixteenth straight quadrenium.....but it's odd this time around.....because for the first time it does not matter to me who wins. I only have interest in who God will put in that position.....to prepare accordingly.....as to how His judgments might unfold. What makes this even more odd to me is that I would naturally hope that Republicans could win the House or hold the Senate....for whereas if Joe Biden wins....a Republican Congress might be able to hold him in check.....but if Trump wins.....that same Republican Congress would only enable this man who has tyrant and raging sociopath and malignant narcissist and false prophet and wolf in sheep's clothing written all over him.
