Abortion is but a part of our rejection of God in America. We are losing the battle on LGBT issues in the minds of Americans more every single day. Make America Great Again has taken dominion over our minds....and devastated evangelicalism. God's warnings over a half century have dissipated....replaced by Trump's warnings.
I try to imagine this but have trouble with it. I know what our outward reaction would be to a Trump win on November 3rd.....but in the days after that....what would be our hope....when there is no longer an election result to hope for? The evidence of a collapsing world heading to war would still be there....closer and more likely seen. We no longer hope solely in Christ....for we've proven that....and it would not be that easy to return. We cannot just say....'Jesus....we're back'....for He would say...."Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in your time of distress." (Judges 10:14) Supreme Court judges will not come into play as war breaks out in the Far East and the Middle East. So where would the hope be when the political election would be over and America continues to crumble? One way or the other the stock market will collapse. Whether the catalyst be a continuing pandemic or a world war or a natural disaster....or none of these....it's coming down....for it cannot sustain itself for long in the situation that we have brought upon ourselves. We can easily ignore the descriptions of this hopelessly bloated debt-ridden economy....for we are old hands at it....and continue to buy into the "winning winning winning' prophesies of the oracle in the White House....but nonetheless we will face reality. How will we respond when it would have been proven that our hope was not only in someone who could never help.....but in that same someone who not only took us off the ethical and moral high ground as war approached....but brought confusion and disarray into previously well-formulated defensive policies proven over seven decades of dedicated effort and often clandestine but always systematic thought?
Try as I might....I also cannot come to a conclusion on who I would rather win this election. (I'm not casting a vote for either) With Biden we would expect ultra-progressives in many cabinet positions.....but might expect old school....at least sane people to head State and Defense and be a part of the national security council....people that he in his aging decaying mental agility might at least listen to.....but with Donald Trump it does not matter how sane or even wise these people would be because he doesn't listen to them....and would replace them at the drop of a hat if they do not pay obeisance as in the case of our current Attorney General....for Donald Trump has....'gut instinct'....to replace wisdom and hard work....'gut instinct' that failed him more often than not in his own personal life....and that has done nothing but mess up everything he has so far applied it to. (I didn't expect it....but Bob Woodward's book is the most important book out there...this after researching in 75 books....for it shows beyond the shadow of a doubt how unfit Donald Trump is for leading this nation)
This election....with all the hype....is essentially meaningless. That we on our side use God's name all the time....is but as "clanging cymbals" in His ears. There will be a winnowing in the church....there must be....for those who are vexed at what has transpired will find unity....and those who fell for the lie that we are...."one glorious nation under God"....will only get worse.
Our hope therefore.....in my opinion anyway....is that those of us who are vexed will be joined by many others who will have become vexed....and that this remnant will by God's grace be enough that He might have mercy upon us in what is to come.
