The Friends Of Distinction gave it some lyrics and had their own hit a year later....and at the time....at 18 years old....yeah....I could dig it...."Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it." God had both Nebuchadnezzar and Donald Trump grazin' in the grass. Nebuchadnezzar was thankful to wake up....Trump is still chewing away:
I could just bring back the post from a few weeks ago....about sixteen posts back....or bring back one of a half dozen posts on the topic over the past two years....but instead I'll add some fresh words. I try to keep this close to the top not only because it is important....but I cannot get out of my mind how it is so obvious....so why can't people see this? Of course I know why people do not see this....it's because God has kept it from their eyes....but I continually bring it back anyway.....hoping that this might be the time....that this might be God's time....to awaken us.....as to our own culpability in what is happening to America today. So here it is....in very plain conversational language describing it:
The virus was probably a couple of months into its existence. Our government already had word of the potential problem....as reports and images were coming out of China of a mysterious virus. There was the cruise ship fiasco in early March....then the world started to shut down....and our government was talking all the time about...."flattening the curve"....but it was a big election year just starting....and President Trump was not going to be done-in by some virus.
As for me....in hindsight my ignorance on viruses and pandemics was astonishing.....and I had to learn real fast what we were even talking about. That's one reason why I defend Anthony Fauci so much...for no matter how many sources Tucker Carlson types can dig up to support his conspiracy theories....he....and I....and you probably....can really only have a glimpse of the intricacies of viral immunology.
Trump gave his third State of the Union Address on February 4, 2020....hours really before the expected senate party-line acquittal would come in his first impeachment trial. This was the address where Rush Limbaugh was honored....and where Nancy Pelosi ripped up Trump's speech at the end.
Donald Trump would go full bore on that Tuesday evening. He laid it on big....with his....in-your-face....stick this where the sun don't shine....message where democrats were forced to sit and listen. He absolutely loves that kind of stuff. Here are some of the words in that address...."Tonight I stand before you to share the incredible results....(of the past three years)....Jobs are booming....Incomes are soaring....Poverty is plummeting....Crime is falling....Confidence is surging....and our country is thriving....America's fortunes are on the rise.....America's future is blazing bright....our pride is restored....we are moving forward at a pace that was unimaginable just a short time ago....and we are never going back....we are advancing with unbridled optimism"....and the address ended with this...."This nation is our canvas, and this country is our masterpiece. We look at tomorrow and see unlimited frontiers just waiting to be explored. Our brightest discoveries are not yet known. Our most thrilling stories are not yet told. Our grandest journeys are not yet made. The American Age, the American epic, The American adventure has only just begun. Our spirit is still young. The sun is still rising, God's grace is still shining, and my fellow Americans, the best is yet to come."
Folks.....you can attempt to run from this....but you will never really escape it. God had already by February 4, 2020 brought about this virus that would tear the world apart in a number of ways....in the biggest catastrophe since World War II....yet Trump gave his Nebuchadnezzar imitation of..."Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and the glory of my majesty"....where God brought the Babylonian king down within a year....to grazing in the grass. As for Trump....eleven months later....he was on the ellipse....grazing grass in the darkness of his mind.
That's it folks....it could not possibly be more clear in how God lets us go only so far.....and always warns in advance of judgment.....and always keeps His promise. We began by saying that we were going to make America great again....taking absolutely no responsibility for what got us to where we were in the first place....but God's warning given to Malachi to give to the Israelites....is also to us and anyone else in like circumstances...."They may build [again]....but I will tear down." 'We'....built....and God tore down....and He will tear down again if He has to....until we finally see that all of us....and not only the other political party....are in need of repentance....and until we start to show some compassion for the stranger in our midst....and until we quit relying on our own power....seeking our own goals....and taking all the credit....for in reality that which is nothing more than a mess of pottage anyway.
