Preface from this post from about a month ago: There was a day when all serious foreign policy matters were put on a grid of potential world war. Politics was laid aside at least temporarily....and some semblance of unity came to us. We have today discarded that grid in order to win the next election:
This isn't the first time that I've broached this subject. I'll tell you what our much maligned intelligence services are doing right now. They are not only watching Putin....they are considering what Xi Jinping might do if Putin does act on the Ukraine. Putin is in China and there is no doubt that he and the Chinese communist leader at the very least exchanged notes. If China acts on Taiwan sometime after Putin might move on the Ukraine.....then the United States would have a two-front problem.....which is much more than just doubling the problem. Kim Jong-un also comes into the equation....as does the Middle East.
China needs a certain amount of GDP growth to survive....if this utterly collapses.....(which is what we are rooting for).... then they will most likely have major domestic problems....and they are not likely going to do what the Soviet Union did in 1989.
To make matters even worse....the Chinese and Russian intelligence services know very well that if we ever have to bring back a draft in an emergency situation....then we will run into big problems. I've been bringing this up for years....have we.....meaning all of us who spend all of our time trying to stick it to President Biden and his son Hunter....have we even considered what a draft would look like? Who do you draft and who don't you dare draft and who can't you draft even if you wanted to? How would much of the American public react if their sons are sent off to war and new aliens who have been brought in to work are not?
Rand Paul is too concerned about how to get Anthony Fauci. Lindsey is Graham is consumed trying to give Trump what he wants....and Ted Cruz is still trying to resurrect a presidential bid.....this after five years now of dismal kowtowing to Trump. Kevin McCarthy and just about all the other hangers-on are only thinking about one thing....the mid-terms. It wasn't that long ago that Trump was singing Xi Jinping's praises about how he managed to be president for life....and we laughed....but we are pounding our chests for war today. Whatever decisions might be made....you can bet that Tucker Carlson will attack them....for that is the foundation and the essence of his career right now....make news with outlandish charges....on anything....just keep people mad.
Am I a little over the top on this? Possibly....probably....but my point is valid....with a half century of a keen interest in what goes on in geopolitical matters....and a few years in the army way back when....with a top secret clearance....at least dealing with the inner workings of military communications surveillance....updating everything through reading as the years passed...and at least having an idea how intelligence services operate....this as opposed to the....'read one book every two years....and rely on some talk radio host or podcaster to do our actual thinking....so we can concentrate on our latest hobby'.....that most of us are today bogged down in.
And where are our pulpits during all of this? It depends on their theology. The charismatics aren't worried because they are getting raptured out....even if it's in the middle of the Super Bowl. They're real good at telling us how Sweden already has chips being implanted on top of the hand....but they are even more worried about mail-in democrat ballots. The rest of us just don't want to talk about these things for fear that someone might someday quote us.
