Preface: The Lord's Day is not the only thing that the church needs terribly a conversaton about. We need to make sure that we know what being 'born again' means! Do you remember that finger game from when we were kids...."Here is the church....and here is the steeple....open the doors.....and see all the people?" Well the people are there....but how many have been born again? What happened to the wicket gate....and the narrow way....and abiding in the vine....and Nicodemus? 'Born Again'.…sounds like a great general assembly topic to me....and an emergency synod focus would be even better! The following is a preface from a post from earlier this year:
The sermon that I am going to recommend to you here is so important that it needs its own post. You are a Christian....you are confident of that....you go to church regularly and pray and believe....but you dismiss what you might hear from other Christians on the necessity of being....born again. It's just a phrase that some denominations use....you tell yourself....and you may even be irritated if you hear of this....'necessity'....too often. If this is you then you need to find some resolution to this problem....thus this sermon by John Piper.
