Is A Little Caveat Too Much To Ask?

They are smart people. They have use of the best computer simulations. Many of them have a half-century of first-hand experience....and a lot of them don't even have a dog in the race. So how do they miss this?
Let me begin by giving an analogy....in economic forecasting....it has always been the norm. These very knowledgeable people run all the numbers....and whether it is good news or bad news or in between news....they come out and make their forecasts.....as if everything that has to be taken into account....has been taken into account....and then a war starts or a pandemic starts....or some act of nature disrupts everything....and their forecasts naturally turn out to be wrong. No problem here....that's life.....but why can't they just give a tiny little caveat in their forecasts such as....'this will happen....unless a war or a pandemic or a natural disaster throws everything to the wind.'?
Case in point....after the Republican National Convention....it seemed to everyone that Trump might win easily. The Dems were downcast. I could see it in the faces of some of my friends. But the Dems unceremoniously booted Joe Biden out....and dragged Harris in....and then Trump was just Trump in the debate....and now it seems that Harris will win easily....and all the Republicans are downcast.
I was staying in a hotel two nights ago....watched the debate....and then went outside for some air...and noticed that the flag on the pole was at half-mast.....which it wasn't only hours before? You should know this....the entire area is all Trump.....with Trump stuff everywhere....and not a single solitary morsel of support of Harris. OK....I asked the desk clerk why the flag was at half mast.....and she was as surprised as I was. A little bit later the flag was back where it should be....at the top of the pole. Now I am inclined to believe that after the debate....one of the locals.....dejected....took it upon himself to make a statement.
Here are a couple of thing to consider. Vladimir Putin wants Trump as president. He was probably happy after the Republican convention.....and now he's probably not happy at all. Maybe he or one of his proxies will put something in motion in an attempt to embarrass the Biden/Harris administration. If that happened....then maybe this mess would turn right around again? There are many other things of significance that could happen in the next eight weeks....not the least of which is the debate of the vice-president nominees!
This though is certain....and that is that God is in control. Did you know that the book of Psalms is divided into five separate books? You probably knew that....but why is there that division? The very respected Reformed theologian O. Palmer Robertson wrote a treatise of a book on this back in 2015....titled....The Flow Of The Psalms, Discovering Their Structure And Theology. I'll point out but one blurb on the back cover of the book...."A courageous and thought-provoking proposal to read the Psalter afresh." This book did two things to me....it set on fire a renewed interest in reading the Psalms daily....and in my mind it greatly....to put it mildly....expanded the purpose of that wonderful book.
OK....I've posted on The Flow Of The Psalms a few times....and here is how the author described the division of Psalms into five books...."
O. Palmer Robertson labeled the five books within Psalms....1-41 as 'Confrontation'....42-72 as 'Communication'....73-89 as 'Devastation'....90-106 as 'Maturation'....and the final section....107- 150 as 'Consummation'." This isn't a fluff book folks. If you take the time to read it then you are going to have to put your mind into it. This last book....Psalms 107 to he end....150....Robertson labels...."Consummation"....this being a chronological term. Verse 40 reads....this in the ESV...."He pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes"....or as the NASV puts it...."in a pathless wasteland."
Folks....That is not only Donald Trump and Harris....but the Democrat Party....and the Republican Party.....and evangelicalism and conservatism.....all of us to be more precise. There is chaos everywhere.....these 'experts' today aren't even capable of giving educated guesses in this election. Events are transpiring very quickly....literally every day. Psalm 107 concludes with this...."Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things; let them consider the steadfast love of the LORD."
