My intention was to list every book of the New Testament....with a little bit of commentary and just a verse or two in each book that is obvious end-times prophecy....but it is too big of a task because that information and those warnings are too many. What I had hoped to do was demonstrate to the reader how this very same New Testament that they have been reading for maybe ten or twenty years....is full of prophecy on what it is going to be like as our Lord returns in great power and glory.
What I personally have done over the years in my own Bible is use color-coding....red and orange and green and yellow and blue. The orange is everything related to prophecy. So it is easy for me to just page through and see all of the verses and passages and complete chapters that pertain to the Lord's Second Coming. What I hope to do instead is focus only on the first book....the gospel of Matthew.
The first two chapters are filled with prophecy on our Lord's first coming but I want to emphasize here the star that God used to guide the 'wise men.' Indeed....does not Luke 21:25 write in his version of the Olivet Discourse...."And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars..."? It is not radical or fanatic to at least observe and consider blood moons and eclipses today. Also in the second chapter....Jeremiah is referenced....as we are familiar with on....lamentation and weeping in Ramah. Should this not tell us all to consider everything else that Jeremiah wrote?
At the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount....we are told this by Jesus...."Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.....for so the persecuted the prophets who were before you." This is a direct link of persecution with those who point to the second coming of the Lord.
Jesus specifically warned us in chapter 7 on false prophets...."Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves....you will know them by their fruits." Jesus also talks about the wise man who built his house on the rock...for...."and when the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on the house; and it did not fall for it was founded on the rock"....but of the foolish man....which includes the man today who does not look to the return of our Lord...."and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell, And great was its fall."
Jesus said in chapter 10...Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city"....'that city'...and the cities that Jesus mentioned....Chorazin and Bethesda and Capernaum.....perfectly describe America and much of Western Civilization today. And of course we read this in the same chapter...."And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved." That's not doctrine on salvation....but rather a serious warning of how bad it will be.
Jesus says in chapter 12...."Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to devastation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand." That is an epitaph already on the world as it is now.
Indeed the parable of the Sower describes evangelicalism today....where it even mentions the harvest at..."the end of the age." Also...."Hearing you will hear....and shall not understand....And seeing you will see....and not perceive....for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it." We are being told to listen...but what are we listening to today....just about everything else except God's prophetic word!
There is this key verse...."A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house." This is encouragement to anyone who is proclaiming the return of the Son of Man....and shouting the warnings thereof. When Jerusalem fell to the Babylonians....Nebuchadnezzar honored Jeremiah's true prophecies....but he was still rejected at Jerusalem!
And how about when Jesus said that the Pharisees and the Sadducees could tell the coming weather by the sky but could not discern the..."signs of the times."? And then there is the....Olivet Discourse....which all of us should almost have memorized. In Matthew it is in chapters 24 and 25....in Mark chapter 13....and in Luke chapter 21.
Folks....give it a try....read through the New Testament....and meditate upon and highlight everything that could conceivably pertain to what believers might need to know in the days before our Lord returns. This way you are actually finding out for yourselves....as opposed to just reading the conclusion of someone else. You will surely be amazed at how much the New Testament speaks on the latter days....but more so....you will be blessed....in realizing the nearness of the coming of our Lord and Savior!
Addendum: Texas pastor and televangelist John Hagee's book....Four Blood Moons....Something Is About To Change....was published in 2013...a year before the tetrad of Blood Moons that began in April of 2014 and ended in September of 2015. Tetrads are not rare but they are odd in their occurrence in that they come in about 600 year cycles where there may not be a tetrad in 300 years.....but then as with today....they may come about every 15 years....and this for about 300 years. What is rare is a tetrad coinciding with Jewish holidays....that is really rare....and that is what happened in 2014 through 2015. So Hagee's best-seller was published and probably made a lot of money for him or wherever the money went....and then it was over....the world did not end....so much for that....the book and the date seem to be forgotten....but something did change during that tetrad....but it was not readily recognizable at the time....as in the midst of it....June 16, 2015....Donald Trump....who was born on a blood moon on June 14, 1946....famously came down that golden escalator! I'd say that was pretty significant....wouldn't you?
