When we read articles in the news that might say something like this....'60% of Americans feel this way about that'....it is giving a general consensus of what the American opinion might be. This is the paradigm that we live in....where reality is dependent on what all of us as a group think. We in effect create our own reality in our own mind.
The survey that we hear a lot about today is....'Is America going in the right direction or the wrong direction?' Not only is this type of polling unscientific....it is woefully incomplete. We are satisfied in admitting that we are going in the wrong direction....and leave it at that.
Vietnam protests in America changed the outcome of the war. I have experience here....for one of the first things that I was shown when arriving in Vietnam was that in our very extended area of responsibility there was nothing left of the NVA and Vietcong after the Tet attacks in 1968 other than call signs communicating with each other....military units in name only....just to keep a continuity going. The North was contemplating suing for peace until the protests on American streets changed their mind....and over time all of those units were fully reinforced.
Within the past month there was a weekend where just about all of our intelligence agencies believed that war in the Middle East was imminent....like right then! Every pressure available was put on Iran and Hezbollah not to start the war....but it was only a temporary suture. Like it or not...appreciate it or not....intelligence agencies more often than not know when war is coming....and when they fail....which they do at times....there is disaster as with the Sukkot attacks in Israel last October....or as with Tet of 1968.
If the people are sick of defending something....then the enemy will pounce upon it....and that is the problem that Israel faces today. Our effort in Vietnam tried to win the....hearts and minds....of the Vietnamese people....but ultimately and over time it was the hearts and minds of the American people that determined the final outcome.
So here is just one of the problems....we the people can simply be used as a tool to push Humpty Dumpty off the wall....and if the protests are big enough....all the king's horses and all the king's men can't put anything back together again. Our ignorance can profoundly change the course of world events....where alliances or treaties....and even common sense....would mean nothing. It used to be....which side can get out the vote....but today it's more....which side can get out the most protesters.
As for the Christian mind....the genuine Christian mind....if we have eyes to read and ears to hear....we should recognize what is happening from what we read in God's Word. The chaos and delusion and lies and deception....and most particularly the hate of Israel are all there! The nation-states are all in place. The division and lack of resolve and lack of vigilance is evident. The lack of discernment...."so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect"....is everywhere in evangelicalism.
We have forgotten that we are in a spiritual war.....and that there will be casualties....and hostages. We do not want church leaders warning us about anything. We are just....not Interested! We only want to plant and harvest....not train and prepare. This is our protest.
Our intelligence agencies know that war is coming....but we Christians....with much greater intelligence gathering from God's Word available to us....can only see that we are going in the wrong direction.
