Preface: The following post is from 2022. I have tried to warn Christians now for many years. I have tried every tact I know....and then some....and then some more. We are Laodicean today....we think that we are rich....spiritually....but we are not....and we have no interest in pursuing the matter....but God will have other plans. My main goal was to be but a messenger....to direct people to men like Spurgeon and Lloyd-Jones and others....both from the past and from today. I have no desire for people to read me on a daily basis....when what they need is in the preaching....from either men of the past....or the few men today who preach like men from the past....and the numbers of these men are getting smaller every day. Men are entering their pulpits as I type these few words. They had a vocation once....but now it is just more of a job. There is no mortification in today's sermons. All of that is gone....replaced by the most inoffensive of sermons. The world is on fire....but few of these men even know it....and when the flames get closer to home they will call out....'evacuate the fiery furnace'.....for they forget who was in the furnace with Shadrach and Meshach and Abednego....or the reason they were in the furnace to begin with....that they had refused to worship anyone but the true God.
A General Manager In Sales Would Give Me A Very Unsatisfactory Evaluation
If these posts of mine were somehow in a retail setting.....with a regional general manager who would stop by to assess how things are going....he would probably close this store....and give me my pink slip. He would tell me that a lot of people come into the store....but few buy any of the merchandise.
I am limited in analysis of the visitors to these posts. There are means available to get better statistical analysis but I just do not use them. On the other hand....after over thirteen and a half years of this....I can tell a lot.
When I was in the army....way way back when....and worked alongside men who listened to Morse Code on a headset all day long.....the more experienced ones could recognize the sender on the other end by the way they touched the keys. I can recognize some of the viewers to these posts by the timing of the visit as it relates to the timing of the posting. I know that certain people from certain countries will visit within an hour of the post....they obviously having a message sent them that a post had been created. I can expect certain visits from certain countries by the time of the day....for maybe they wake up and check their computers.
If I visit a college campus and leave my website pens around....I can assume that most of the visitors of that day are students from that campus.....and when on a long car trip.....with my bumper stickers attached....I can assume that someone read the bumper sticker and was curious enough to visit.....sometimes I can actually see them looking over to me as their vehicle passes....while they are typing on their smart phones.
As I posted many times....I literally pray for the person behind every hit that comes in.....hoping only that they might be directed to John Piper's ministry.....desiringgod.org.....or any of the other ministries that I so often highlight. I also watch closely the visits to my profile....for they indicate a first-time visitor who was interested enough to see who puts out these posts....but the negative analysis far outweighs the positives for these reasons:
Yes....I do recommend on occasion for visitors to leave these posts of mine and find those ministries today who are faithful to God's Word and warnings....and I have to take this into consideration....but one of the things that I can tell is whether or not a viewer reads a post....and then recommends it.....and this glaringly does not happen. Even the regular readers do not seem to recommend these posts to friends and loved ones. This has been my greatest disappointment....for if these posts were only about politics....I would have utterly wasted these past thirteen and a half years. These posts are about salvation....and being.....born again. The politics is here only as it relates to our mistaken belief within evangelicalism....and in the church....that we can do something of ourselves....through our own powers....and the powers of strong men....and that a prosperous America has anything at all to do with our eternal destiny....and the eternal destiny of the souls of those whom we love. People do not readily recommend these warnings....and thus I have greatly failed here.
Americans....in general.....are not interested in hearing that their nation is being judged by God. They just do not want to hear it.....they want to hear about how bad Joe Biden is.....and how the Congress has to be taken back....and how their future plans for family and retirement etc....will get back on track. The strongest interest that these posts have....from what I can tell....is from Europeans....(particularly Israel....which I am thankful for)....who know the trouble that they are in....and know that America is no longer the America of the past.
I also have negative feedback....in a way....in how good friends....who are aware of these efforts of thirteen and a half years....(nearing fifteen years now)....never mention the posts. If your own friends are not interested in your thoughts....then you are in trouble.
