Below what you are reading now is a post that is only a couple of weeks old. In the desiringgod.org teaching by Greg Morse....he focuses on a story from 2 Samual where an 80 year old man....Barzillai....apparently rather wealthy and well-known....loads up provisions for a trip to give to King David as he is being expelled from his throne by his own son. Please go and listen to this wonderful devotion! David was being jeered as he evacuated his throne! That in itself is mind-boggling....but Barzillai was someone who would stay loyal to his king at the king's absolute lowest point!

               Folks....that is Christ in America today! We in the church are not jeering Him. We are just ignoring Him! He is not evacuating His throne....but His glory has departed....and that throne room....that sanctuary....has been decorated with flags and trophies and mounted heads on the wall. 
               We....hopefully you and I....will be as Barzillai. The gospel of Jesus Christ has been compromised at times almost beyond recognition. Few point to a wicket gate and narrow way. The current is strong and it is hard to swim against it. This is a low point in Christianity in America. A separated remnant isn't the winning team as evangelicals see it....as we now have a different view of what winning it....but as for King David....he would regain his throne...and he would remember to his dying day the faithfulness in trying times his servant Barzillai.
                It takes discernment and perseverance....and love and faithfulness to our Lord and Savior....and coming King....to be separated....and peculiar....in this new gilded age in government and in the church.
