"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." Matthew 6:24 NKJV
This is yet another memory verse that has no meaning to us anymore. MAGA is all mammon. Talk what you want about safe streets or good schools or what 'illegal' means....in defense of supporting the man who is wreaking havoc on America and its people and the world right now....it all boils down to money.
Billy Graham once humorously told of man at the time of the Civil War who wanted to remain neutral so he wore a gray jacket and blue pants....but all it did was get both sides to shoot at him. There is no neutrality in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
What is going to happen is that the gospel will be hated by the very same Christians who proclaim it. How can that be you say? Well....they just proclaim everything else in God's Word except that which speaks of or alludes to....that dichotomy of the conscience....that points to mammon....and its many and varied environs. They will still love everything that does not tell them not to do what they do not want to do. We have already seen this verse in action....as loyalty to the man who promises them the money....Donald Trump....supersedes loyalty even to Him who saved their soul!
There is a mainline church in our area that came up with a clever little idea to draw people in. They made up yard signs....and they are everywhere....that read....I Love My Church. Folks....therein is part of the problem. We love our church and our pastor more than we love Christ and His gospel!
The two latest Trump Republican approval polls....that are dominated by evangelicals....have 88% and 90% approval....this for a man who for ten years has prophesied winning....winning....winning....and our best is yet to come....and now a new golden age....the exact opposite of what God's Word tells them.....and who has become a strongman savior....exacting retribution as easily as he breathes....and exhibiting every trait that the Apostle Paul told us would be indicative of what men will be like in the last days.
We thus perpetuate the problem that has decimated discernment in even born again believers....and this as we take up the flag instead of our cross.
