There won't be an epitaph written on the United States of America.....because an epitaph implies that dust settles and time moves on....where there is someone to write about what happened....whereas God's Word is very clear in that God's judgment is ahead....not the continuation of these modern days of Noah....but if there were an epitaph....it would say that the Christian church had fallen away....(not been raptured)....and when that happened there was no wisdom or discernment or warnings left....the glory had departed....and we were left on our own. That is almost where we are today.
Quite frankly....we are just not that interested in Jesus coming back....we are interested in making our country great again. We had a choice....stay the course in our Christian faith....or go the way of Ayn Rand. Eventually we just shrugged off all the responsibility of thinking for ourselves....and decided to become followers....no longer of The Way.....nor of Jesus....but of a man who took us to the top of a very high mountain....so to speak....and showed us all the kingdoms of the world and their glory....and told us that a golden age was coming....with peace and security....if we but believe him.
Our son handed me a passage from a book by A. W. Tozer to read....and I read it and then took a photo of it....to pass on to you. I do not even know what the title of the book was....(Tozer went to be with his Lord 63 years ago)....but the words were these....
"I trust I speak in charity, but the lack in our pulpits is real. Milton's terrible sentence applies to our day as accurately as it did to his: 'The hungry sheep look up, and are not fed.' It is a solemn thing, and no small scandal in the kingdom, to see God's children starving while actually seated at the Father's table."
Forty years ago we were hungry....but today were are given appetite suppressants....and we like it like that....because deep down within we know that if we were ever fed....as God's children were fed in the past....we would have to give up this golden age nonsense....and put our faith during these terrible times where it should be....in the hands of God....and we would plead for the return of the King of Kings.....with His mighty angels....to give to those (we) who never deserved it....something that they (we) could never even imagine....for the indescribable gift....of His exceeding grace.
" 'But he who glories, let him glory in the LORD'....For not he who commends himself is approved. but whom the Lord commends."2 Corinthians 10 17,17 ESV
