I don't usually use the word but I have always had heroes....and the most long-standing of those may be Joni Eareckson Tada....that wonderful Christian woman about my age who at 17 years old became quadriplegic from a diving accident. I am always in awe at her faithfulness and her testimony. Probably next to her would be more recent....in the former Senator from Nebraska....Ben Sasse....who has a terminal cancer diagnosis....and has since given a testimony of faith that should humble all of us!
Ben Sasse speaks with an intellect and wisdom that is more than rare in American government. He would be the top candidate for the next Republican nomination were it not for his illness. If you listen to the recent 60 Minutes interview you will hear strong opinion on AI and other issues that need to be tackled in the Senate.....but are not.
This isn't a political post....for as strong as Ben Sasse is in what would be the leadership that we desperately need....he does have an area where he is lacking....for his theological foundations....which are the same as mine....is unable to see that the Second Coming....is now. He....we....are generally blinded to it....but there is a reason for this.....for God's design is perfect....and in amongst that design there are discrepancies and even doctrinal disputes.
I have understood this for a long time....not perfectly....but rather that God must have a reason that we have these differences....and permits us to continue to defend that which we believe.....without compromising this gospel! We....all of us who still hold the gospel of Jesus Christ and the absolute need to be born again as central....we may push against each other in some areas....but ultimately we balance each other out....and constantly challenge each other....forcing each other to have some humility.....and not letting any of us get too arrogant.
So some of us know that the church is under judgment....that delusion and end-times deception is everywhere...and that 1948 set things in motion without a turning back....and some of us do not know that.....even deny it....but those others have their own strengths! This may not be perfect theology for anyone.....but it is perfect in that God will bring us all together at the perfect time....which is not far away. Maranatha....Lord Jesus Come!
