It was reported that in his first term....Trump while traveling....carried around with him a box....not of briefing materials....but news articles. This is in line with reports over decades of how on his desk at Trump Tower was stacks of magazine articles about himself. What this man does is stay up at night and read the news that mentions him....and then reacts. It is just one more symptom of a serious mental illness.
               Trump didn't like what the American Pope was saying about the war in Iran. This came after Trump threatened to obliterate an entire people. Much of the Iranian people were....(I'll use the past tense)....on Trump's side in the war.....but Trump threatened to destroy the entire country....bridges....electricity....and he had previously mentioned water. Pope Leo's remarks were about what one would expect from a pope....but the Pentagon called in some Catholic prelates....and....well you decide.....did they threaten the pope by bringing up the 14th century where the emperor essentially took over the entire papacy? I think that it is pretty obvious that it was a coded threat.
                It was the beginning of the 14th century....France was at war with England....and the French King wanted church finances to help with the war....the pope didn't like that and was going to excommunicate the French king....the pope was then arrested....mistreated....and died soon afterwards....another pope lived for a short time.....and then the French king made sure his own man was made the next pope.
                The next seven popes resided in Avignon....which is now France. I could easily picture Trump trying to threaten....or coerce in some way....Cardinals in a conclave....to get a pope that he wants. Evangelicals need to know that under the right circumstances....they would be told to speak along the accepted lines.....or keep their religion to themselves.
