He came down that golden escalator on a white horse....wearing a mask....a lone ranger....lone only because he cared for no one other than himself. He was answering an ad for a new sheriff....with a resume composed by the artificial intelligence of the day....Donald Trump himself. He surprised even himself and was given the job....didn't have a clue who to hire....and wound up getting rid of them later anyway. He became the hero of Jerusalem when he....in a down period at the polls....moved Israel's capitol....and lo and behold....the most vile wolf in sheep's clothing....became the good shepherd of the all the sheep!
It was a good ride....but it was over....only he refused to get off the horse....and was banished for four years from the kingdom. The first term was an inauguration....the second a coronation. The first was a cabinet....the second a round table of knights who had taken an oath for him. He came out...."conquering....and to conquer"....on a crusade to the Holy Land....and the battles were shock and awe...until they weren't. No one seems to know the reason for the change....maybe he just got bored....or maybe some child began telling everyone that the emperor had no clothes....whatever the reason....his crusade to free the Holy Land....had turned into a crusade to rebuild the Middle East....according to his liking....irrespective of petty annoyances such as thousand year old hatreds....and utilizing the love of money as a tool of bribery to bring peace....temporary peace of course! He might do this today....or he might do that....nobody really knows.
Note: The title alludes to an 1888 Rudyard Kipling short story. Interestingly....to me anyway....Kipling spent a few weeks in the summer of 1889 visiting a friend only a few hundred yards from where I type.
